  14. There has been a lot of backlash in the Sony community that our beloved camera manufacturer didn’t choose to make more of a splash at CES than they did, similar to the cards Nikon played by introducing the D5 and D500 SLR’s to the market. And while users of the A99/A77/A58 (despite rumours that they may not even bother) continue to wait for a newer version utilizing some of Sony’s newest, next-level technology, I take the stance that CES 2016 would have been the wrong time to introduce any major new piece of equipment, lenses included. Nikon Nikon made a big splash and played their 2016 hand early at this years CES and frankly I completely understand why. See as Sony users, we must understand that Nikon right now is not in the business of trumping Sony rather they likely are comfortable with not only Sony’s marketshare and current market position, but also, their working relationship using Sony’s sensor technology. No, Nikon did not take a bite out of Sony’s momentum at CES, rather, used the show to put even more distance between themselves and Canon. The introduction of the D5 puts them well out in front of Canon in the ultra high speed and ultra high end shooting space, a market that Sony currently and for the foreseeable future, rightly or wrongly, has no foothold in. Sony’s position is at the forefront of mirrorless technology, aimed at portrait shooters, street shooters, and the bulk of the mid to high end camera purchasing market. It’s a strong and smart position to be in. Their only current competition is Nikon. As Sony shooters, we should be pleased with Nikon’s newest product announcements as it is extremely important for the growth of Sony to be pushed by its main competitors. Bravo to Nikon for releasing two great new Cameras. However their big announcement is a niche product catering to only working professionals and hardcore hobbyists. It only shoots 4k for a couple of minutes, because this length of clip is all these people need. It’s not a design flaw, it is exactly what it needs to be. I believe that Sony is wise to avoid this market for now until their focusing technology makes yet another leap forward. The A7R II was a HUGE step for Sony in terms of…. everything, but specifically focusing. However if you’ve ever used a 1Dx or D4s then you know just how far they have to go still. Canon Uhhhhhhhh….. guys? Continue...
  15. Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has been able to test out the new Nissin Air R (receiver). I got one for Canon with the intention of pairing my Canon 430EX II with the Air 1 Commander on my Sony A7ii. I went through the pairing process and it worked, but when I shoot, I only get a flash every 2-3 shots. Does anyone have ideas as to why this is happening? Would it be because you can't mix and match Air Commanders and Air R's from different brands? I may test it out using a strobe with a sync cable and see if it fires on every shot. Thanks!
  16. Hi, Previously I had another copy of commlite adaptor and used it with the older A7S, the canon IS was working throught the commlite on the canon 24-105L & 70-200 2.8 L Now, i bought another copy of commlite, and am using it with the newer A7Smk2 with the same lenses 24-105 & 70-200 but, I can not seem to get the lenses IS working, even when I turn off IBIS and restart camera. If the lense has IS I prefer it to IBIS for zooms. Can anyone confirm that lens IS should work commlite on the A7Smk2 Thanks.
  17. Get some chips and beer, my latest review video is ready on youtube and on my blog with lots of images! 19. Hello, I live in Jakarta, and I am really wanting to make a full system switch to Sony FF from a Canon APSC system, and I need to sell my canon gear for good money to be able to buy the new set up. I am 16 so it's not like I have the luxury of spending much money, so I need the best money for my gear. All of my gear is in really good to mint condition. If any of you know a place/forum to sell gear in the Jakarta area for good money, can you give me some suggestions? Thanks, Lukas
  20. A couple of weeks ago I went for an afternoon walk in the forest. I'm so happy that I was able to adapt my old Canon 70-200 f4L to my Alpha 7 II ... "Autumn Forest":
  21. I've just purchased the following: Sony A7sII and a Metabones V adaptor (Canon EF to Sony E mount) The lens I'm trying to use is a Canon 24-105 IS F4 L When turned on the adaptor light turns blue. (I thought it was meant to turn green but maybe not?) Regardless, I have zero auto focus. The camera is trying to find focus but it can't set on a targeted image at all. Every other control appears to be working, just no Auto focus. Can anyone help?
  22. This is a Sony A6300 with Sigma AF 24-105mm f/4 DG HSM Art Minolta A with Sony LA-EA3 A-Mount Adapter. As well as Blackmagic Production Camera 4K EF with Sigma AF 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art Canon EF-S and Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM. The result is 10 minutes of peace and clouds. Except for the opening plan in the timelapse, everything else was in real time. After the post-production, it was accelerated.
  23. I recently bought this canon macro lense to pair with this adapter for my Sony A6000, but it does not seem to be compatible, although I have had success with other off brand canon lenses. Does anyone have any solutions or good lens adapters they have used with success? thanks in advance! ?
  24. I started with a Minolta and then switched to Canon. I have a nice line of Canon lenses, to include a Canon 400 f2.8 and a 600 f4, which are fantastic. I am considering switching from a 5D3 to an A9, but I am reading that the A9 will not shoot at 20fps when using a non-native lens. Can someone explain why this is the case seeing that a lens is just something that the camera sees through? Unless this is just a tactic that Sony is using to force sports photogs to use their lenses, instead of the ones they have already spent 10's of thousands on?
  25. Yesterday while I was doing nature photography I had to turn off the camera several times because it was hanging with the curtain up, nothing was visible on the display and in the EVF you could see the last photo shot and the focus points were blinking. The problem was presented with the following configuration Sony A7R III + Metabones V + Canon EF 400mm f / 5.6L USM AF-C Wide focus mode Did any of you have a similar problem?
