  1. Hallo, i have a Sony alpha 7R and one question is making me crazy for a while: How can i Hypersync a studio flash on the Sony A7R? Everywhere there is this written solution about using a 2nd flash, but if the studio flash is mounted 3m above the model it sounds more like a joke to me. There are of course some solutions using Wireless triggers for Canon/Nikon but there has to be something for Sony, right? It's making me crazy because i can't find it, also because there is no adapter from canon to Sony Multi-Interface... What can i do? Thanks in advance, Maximilian
  2. Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has been able to test out the new Nissin Air R (receiver). I got one for Canon with the intention of pairing my Canon 430EX II with the Air 1 Commander on my Sony A7ii. I went through the pairing process and it worked, but when I shoot, I only get a flash every 2-3 shots. Does anyone have ideas as to why this is happening? Would it be because you can't mix and match Air Commanders and Air R's from different brands? I may test it out using a strobe with a sync cable and see if it fires on every shot. Thanks!
  3. Are there any aftermarket triggers available that will allow the A850 to shoot in HSS. The manual says the camera does have HSS but only with Sony flashguns. I already own a few yongnuo flashes. I wondering if anyone else has encountered this or found something that works.
  4. Good morning, i am writing with frustration in my eyes and fingers i need your help. I recently got the Sony A7R and for the life of me i cant seem to get it pass the flash sync speed of 60. I want to know if it is default to that speed or there is something in body that i can fix to get rid of it. Was on a photographers link up and i used my Nikon version of the Godox trigger and it fired each time and i am sure i was over 60, All Lights used was the Godox AD600. Now i am trying again and its not working, i want to know if there is a setting that i can change inbody to move the shutter from default 60 to atleast 1/160 i am also trying HSS and its not working and i know my Godox have that capability as i used it all the time with my Nikon D750. Dont want to be buying different flashes and triggers all the time as i have the YN flash and Triggers too suited for my Nikon. So is it a case where as i need to get the Sony Version of the AD600 trigger as my friend suggested then i can do that or i can just use a filter instead to get the results that i need, even tho i will be shooting action soon & will need that HSS Capability.
  5. Hi all, Anyone know what the most powerful option is for HSS on a Sony A7RII for on camera flash? And what the output generally is (do they have HSS Guide Numbers?) I've been looking at the hassy x1d and rx1rII because of their leaf shutter options, but both have huge issues for me (x1d, the massive price tag compared to the relatively unfinished and glitchy product - the Rx1RII the 35mm lens, which while great is too short for most of my work). I am starting to work on a project where I am using direct on camera flash outside in a variety of lighting conditions. Subjects are myriad - mostly still, but movement is not a concern. Just looking to get the most powerful artificial light output that I can on my A7RII while shooting at higher shutter speeds. I am also gelling the flash, reducing output, another reason I want power. While this is a constraint, I want to limit this to on camera flashes only, as this all needs to fit in my shoulder bag.
  6. Hi there! I'm a bit confused right now, maybe someone here can help. I recently sold my Nikon gear and switched so Sony (A7s for the time being, A7R II later). With my Nikons I used the PocketWizard MiniTT1 and FlexTT5 to trigger my off-camera Elinchrom ELB400 Pro Heads. Worked quite well. Now I have an A7s and I also own a Metz mecablitz AF-64 for Sony which supports on-camera HSS in M and TTL mode. Also works fine up to 1/8000. But HOW TO TRIGGER my off-camera ELB400 heads in HSS? The Skyport trigger alone doesn't work of yourse (no HSS support). I've read somewhere that you could use an on-camera HSS flash to trigger external flashes via photo cell. It fires, yes, but only up to 1/250 or 1/300 but it doesn't go higher. I mean an CAN dial in faster shutter speeds but the flash does not register on the photo, although being fired. I suspect the photo cell triggering takes too long for the flash to be registered by the camera at high shutter speeds? Be that as it may - what do I do? Is there a trigger/setup which enables me to use my off-camera Elinchrom ELB400 heads with my A7s and hopefully the A7r II in HSS mode? Since both (cameras and flashes) in theory support HSS, there should be a way, no? I found it to be rather tricky to get reliable information about this, maybe because both, professional Alpha cameras and HSS are relatively "new"... Many thanks! Todd
