  1. Hi all. The title says it all. Ever since the upgrade do 3.0, my ARW files aren’t recognised in Lightroom. I can open them in Photoshop to edit there or convert to DNG and import to Lightroom. Tried to modify the EXIG header relative to software version from 3.0 back to 2.1 but it didn’t do anything. Has anyone encountered this issue? is there any way this can be escalated or we just have to wait for a new version of Lightroom to come out? Cheers

  3. Hey folks, taken on a walk with my dogs in Zoutelande in the Netherlands. No other people around, just the chair and the boat perfectly aligned (found it that way). Sony a6000 with 35mmf18. f5, 1/4000. It was my first holiday with a camera better than iPhone and my first take with lightroom. Looking for feedback on composition and post processing to learn. Feel free to comment, any tips are highly appreciated ! Quality of image is not that good, probably because it was rendered from smart preview in lightroom (traveling without external hdd). Best Daniel

  6. Hi, I am wondering if/how the Lightroom camera calibration setting is really important or has significative impact in the post workflow when working on RAWs. my specific body is a A7R2 but that's not really important here. I have always been using the default "Adobe Standard" profile. All my pictures (keepers) are very much worked on in post. My workflow is to adjust all levels to satisfaction, but I have never been paying much attention to the camera calibration setting. Given my workflow, would using a set of "better" profiles, such as http://www.piraccini.net/2011/02/profili-colore-sony-a900-per-adobe-lr.html provide any advantage? I have never expected to have a default JPEG-style rendering on my RAWs and actually assumed that starting from the "most neutral" settings would give me more options as I work on my images. I actually set my camera to Neutral and turned off any highlight/shadow recovery options and adjust levels myself in post. I also absolutely do not care what the image actually look like in the viewfinder/screen, I only use it for focus and exposure - as long as these are good, I will handle the rest in post. Any opinions on this? Thanks, Colin

  8. Hi Guys, I have recently bought a6300 and have upgraded to the LR Classic subscription plan, because my LR5 couldn't read the ARW files. Now a really weird problem appeared. I have imported about 200 images from a recent trip, at first all was good until a few days after my backup software Carbon Copy Cloner detected dozens of read errors. After that this particular folder in LR was crippled. The previews didn't load anymore (sometimes after over a minute the sharp picture would appear), all develop sliders were greyed out, and when i try to export them as jepg's LR crashes. Many images now have a black exclamation saying that "LR has encountered problems reading this photo and that you will not be able to make adjustments". Opening the files in PS it won't work, mac's preview won't load, and trashing a single file takes up to two minutes (I have to do this for dozens of files now and will loose the images). In the past i sometimes had similar issues with single images like that (a black exclamation mark over the photo and an 'error working with this photo'). Carbon Copy Cloner suggests that 'Bad sectors are "spared out" — permanently marked as unusable — only when the files on those sectors are deleted.' - do you think it's possible CCC had read errors and then deleted the files? They still appear in the finder though. CCC also suggests this issue may be due to a bad harddrive (these images are all on a 2 TB external Seagate drive. This is all very strange, I've worked with LR for years and never had this issue. I'm working on a Macbook Pro 2016 running 10.13.1 and LR is also fully updated (7.0.1) Before i spend time trashing them all I wonder if there are any options to recover my files. I'm having trouble finding people with similar issues though. Any help would be MASSIVELY appreciated, especially as a big trip is coming up and I don't want to deal with this on the road. I'll try using a different drive in the future. Cheers, Marcial

  11. Greetings forum members, I shoot with an a6000 and A7Rii (with Sony and Zeiss lenses) since a couple months back. I used Canon for 5 years and recently got rid of my old Canon stuff. There might be a similar topic about this over here somewhere i reckon. I'm loving the possibilities and quality of both my Sony cameras, but like many others I'm not quite used to the colors of the RAW files. I wanted to see if you guys have any tips on adding some warmth to the images in Lightroom. Why not share a preset! Some stuff I often do when working with Sony RAW files: -Bump up color temp+tint -Reduce whites/highlights a bit -Increase vibrance if needed -Sharpness +40 -Camera calibration profile: Camera standard / Red Primary +5 If you would like to check out my website it's: www.kosk.fi 90% of the pictures on it are shot on a Canon 5D mk2 (the rest Pentax/Minolta film or EOS M). Btw I mainly shoot portraits nowadays. Cheers! Jogi
  12. Hey guys I was looking for a tool to show me some statistics on my photos a little while ago in order to better understand what my most common camera settings were. I think I was trying to justify buying a new lens, although it was a little clunky using the Lightroom interface to get this info. I wanted to know my most common apertures my most common focal lengths my photo volumes over the past 2 years how much usage my lenses get how much usage my cameras get I found some other tools online that claimed to use your Lightroom library to do some of these, although they all sucked, required me to install plugins or pay money and they were pretty ugly to look at. I’m a software engineer, so I wrote my own. It’s free to use, doesn’t require you to install anything and runs completely in your browser. None of your data is uploaded, nor does it leave your machine. Simply drag your Lightroom Catalog (.lrcat) file onto the page and it will analyze your data and visualize your catalog meta data for you into some nice charts. I have plenty of ideas for more features to add, although i’m releasing the base version now to see what people think and if there are any “must have” features that are requested. You can consider it beta software for now, please let me know if you spot any bugs. Tested in Chrome and FireFox Take a look, and let me know what you think https://www.lightroomdashboard.com
  13. I have noticed that when I shoot RAW & JPEG, an interesting thing happens in Photoshop Lightroom. When I switch from the ARW file to the JPEG file, the image shifts. I would guess that there is an issue with in camera lens corrections (JPEG) not being the same as what is happening in Lightroom. If I am correct, can someone please tell me what correction needs to be made to RAW files in Lightroom, and if there is a way to do it as across a number of images at once (batch). Also, Lightroom does not seem to recognize my 16-35 FE. Anybody else notice that. I noticed this problem when going back to older shots done with the a7II, and need to do more to see if the a7R is the same problem. I am fonder of Lightroom with PS than I was of Capture One in the old days, especially in terms of software bugs, and getting timely support. I'm hoping solution suggestions will take that into account. I use multiple cameras including Canons, and have no urge to use either Canon or Sony software if I can possibly avoid it. Thanks.
