Dear all. My Flash trigger Yongnuo RF-603C it doesen' t work on my Sony alpha 7R II . Do you know if there is any way i can make them work ? I saw some tutorial that show how to modificate an RF-603N for a sony alpha 6000 . In case it' s impossible can you suggest to me some cheap flash trigger for my sony A7 R 2 ? Thanks a lot. Pika -
I am a Canon convert and currently have Canon flashes (as well as Nikon SB-80's). I am wondering what my off camera flash options are in terms of wirelessly triggering the flashes. I bought some Cactus triggers but apparently need a Sony flash for them. OR - are their Sony flashes that can be wirelessly triggered from the A7R2 without a transmitter/receiver unit? I noticed the flash controls in the menu. If that is the case, I would rather just pick up Sony flashes. Please respond like I am a 5 year old, lol. Not too tech-savvy and I am sure new-to-flash users will appreciate as well Jordan

I recently purchased the Nissin i40 flash for my a6000, which IMO is a perfect match in terms of size and balance. However, I want to be able to use the flash off-camera with TTL and HSS functionality without the need for an on-camera flash as a trigger, as this would compromise the light-weight mirrorless body and the freedom of movement the camera gives me. Sony doesn't have much options in this department yet. Nissin offers the Air 1 Commander unit matched with the Di700A flash with built-in receiver, which uses 2.4 GHz radio signal. I quite like the design of the Air 1 Commander as it is not as tall (and therefore as fragile) as e.g. the PocketWizard Plus and still has an interface which is fairly well readable during normal shooting. As of yet however, there is no seperate radio receiver available for the Nissin Air System (NAS). The Nissin website announced early 2015 that the Air R receiver unit should be released in winter 2015. http://www.nissindigital.com/air_r.html Since I couldn't find it anywhere for sale, I contacted Nissin. This was their reply: "Nissin NAS 2.4GHz radio receiver (Model: Air R) for Canon and Nikon version is released on this Jan. Due to order and shipment schedule. The actual available date will be various between countries." ... "Air R Sony version will be available around this march. For your information. For working with Air R, latest firmware on Air 1 Commander is required. So that you may consider to purchase Air 1 And Air R Receiver(s) together, to ensure that their firmware version is matched. Also authorized local warranty card should be included when purchase, to identify your Nissin unit is valid for local warranty update service in future. Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has been able to test out the new Nissin Air R (receiver). I got one for Canon with the intention of pairing my Canon 430EX II with the Air 1 Commander on my Sony A7ii. I went through the pairing process and it worked, but when I shoot, I only get a flash every 2-3 shots. Does anyone have ideas as to why this is happening? Would it be because you can't mix and match Air Commanders and Air R's from different brands? I may test it out using a strobe with a sync cable and see if it fires on every shot. Thanks!

Hallo zusammen Kennt sich jemand mit den X1T(S) Godox Wireless-Transmitter aus? Ich habe einen Godox-Blitz dazugekauft und das "entfesselte" Blitzen mit dem Transmitter funktioniert wunderbar auf meiner Alpha 7ii Mein Problem/Frage: Da ich noch einen kleinen Mini-Blitz von SONY habe (HVL-20), würde ich den gerne für's frontale Aufhellen benutzen. Kann mir jemand sagen, ob das irgendwie klappt neben dem Slave-Blitz von Godox (der ja wireless von der Seite dann blitzt)? Ich hab's also kurz versucht, den Sony-Blitz auf den Schuh des Godox-X1T zu stecken, aber er hat auch im manuellen Modus nicht ausgelöst. Aber vielleicht habe ich es ja einfach falsch eingestellt :-(. würde mich riesig über ein Feedback freuen. Danke!! -
Hi all, Sony offers a Wifi enabled remote view/control which I find myself often using, due to what I shoot. However, the ImageEdge / Sony Alpha (A6400) camera firmware combination turns out to be very unreliable (not only to me, but to many others I read). Often when my phone screen goes off, I will have to go Back in the camera menu, find the remote menu item, reveal the QR and rescan, otherwise it won't work. I have hit the 'report issue' function each time (which triggers a flimsy error code in the error report (ironically) and I keep hoping this will finally be fixed someday. For a modern camera in this class, we should expect this to work. Additionally, I also tried ImageEdge for desktop to wirelessly transfer / preview data during shoots. After many restarts, reconnects, reinstalls it doesn't find my A6400 at all. (this would make a massive difference opposed to cable or worse; take my camera off my balanced gimbal and remove the SD card because sometimes the USB connection doesn't respond). In other words; Sony has is lacking big time when it comes to modern day wireless features (mobile monitor / transfer, desktop monitor / transfer). Does anyone know if there is better 3rd party software available with the capability to do this with a SonyA6400. Or; if Sony is rolling out actual fixes on this soon? Thanks! - Vinesh -
500px Flickr Using my cooperative-by-meal-placement calico, I was able to test out how well my di700a would work with my new Yongnuo YN560 IV as a slave. It's a pretty good wireless setup. I'm using the Nissin Air Commander to trigger the di700a wirelessly. Then I have the Yongnuo set to slave mode and is triggered by the di700a's flash. The only issue I noticed involves using high speed sync. The di700 will trigger the Yongnuo in HSS mode if both flashes are set at full power. It seems if I decrease the power on the Yongnuo at all, it no longer fires on time and doesn't show up in photos. I haven't played around with it too much though, so maybe I'm just missing something. -
I'm in the market for a good quality wireless microphone for the A7RII to do field recordings. Can anyone recommend a product that does a great job and perhaps let me know which ones to avoid? Ideally I'm looking for something I can wear on my person for maximum voice capture with minimum ambient noise. I'll be shooting a lot near noisy waterfalls, city streets etc. Thanks in advance for any tips. -
Sony have forgotten about flash. 1. No cable to operate flash off camera (a7, etc). 2. No wireless flash options other than using 2 sony flash units Existing cables need multiple converters at each end. Third party remote flash are bulky, require multiple batteries to be maintained and make the rig way to pro like for casual, social or street type photography. I just simply want to have handheld fill in flash. Not too much to ask for.

I have an A7 with a Sony HVL-F60M Flash. I want that flash beast to work off camera. I'm thinking of buying 2 Sony HVL-F20Ms to get the following set: - 1 Sony HVL-F20M to use on camera for indirect lighting my model AND for triggering the other 2 flashes - the Sony HVL-F60M Flash (as a wireless slave) as most important flash to lighten my model from the side - the other Sony HVL-F20M (as a wireless slave) behind the model to lighten the white background. Will this set work without any other trigger (and without any cable)? In other words, will the on camera Sony HVL-F20M trigger both others flashes wireless? PS Will the HVL-F20M supply enough light (from 1 meter or less distance from the white background to lighten that sufficiently?
