  1. Hopefully this will be helpful for some of you who are planning to get the Commlite Canon to Sony AF adapter for the new bodies with Phase Detection. Me and my buddies were just curious about how well some of the Canon L Prime (plus the newer 40mm STM) will perform with the adapter, and we video captured the output and slapped them into a video. Not exactly a scientific comparison but does give an idea. Lenses: Canon EF 200mm f2.8 L ii Canon EF 135mm f2 L Canon EF 100 f2.8 macro L IS Canon EF 85mm f1.2 L ii Canon EF 40mm f2.8 STM Canon EF 24mm f1.4 L ii One thing I noticed is that the newer design lenses (2009 and later) seems to perform better on camera with phase detect, whereas the older ones perform better on contrast detect. Here is a quick one of just A6300 with just 85L ii, 40STM, 24L ii Thanks for checking it y'all
  2. Hi! I had the chance to test the new Commlite Nikon F to Sony E adapter on the Sony A7 Mark II with FW 2.0 with 3 Tamron and 1 Nikkor Lens. I wrote a blogpost about my (sadly not that good) findings. Take a look if you like! Commlite Nikon F to Sony E Adapter @ tommayphotography.com Cheers Tom
  3. Hi, Previously I had another copy of commlite adaptor and used it with the older A7S, the canon IS was working throught the commlite on the canon 24-105L & 70-200 2.8 L Now, i bought another copy of commlite, and am using it with the newer A7Smk2 with the same lenses 24-105 & 70-200 but, I can not seem to get the lenses IS working, even when I turn off IBIS and restart camera. If the lense has IS I prefer it to IBIS for zooms. Can anyone confirm that lens IS should work commlite on the A7Smk2 Thanks.
  4. This is kind of a silly post, I'm just reporting a finding. I'm adapting m42 lenses to my a6500, and had the "brilliant" idea of using a chipped Fotodiox m42 to Canon EF adapter and then putting that on a Commlite EF to E adapter. This way I can program the chip to report the focal length (100mm) and have the a6500 automatically use the correct Optical Steady Shot setting. But even though the EXIF data reports 100mm in my raw files, the OSS does not kick in at all, unless I put the OSS adjustment on manual. Strange... I swapped the Commlite for a Vello "Accelerator" focal-reducing EF to E adapter and wouldn't you know it, OSS automatically kicks in with the correct setting (70mm in this case). So I wonder what is preventing the OSS from working with the Commlite-Fotodiox combo? And I wonder why they don't make m42 to E-mount adapters with chips? (I know we don't need focus confirmation, but it's nice to have relevant EXIF data and auto OSS.)

  8. Sony recently gave us Sony A7II owners an amazing christmas present :-) The Firmware Update 2.0. This free firmware update transforms the A7II in the little brother of the A7rII, which allready has Phase Detect AF. In this first part of my 2 part review i take a look how good the Sigma 24mm 1.4 Canon Mount with the Commlite Adapter works in Single and Continues Focus modes. https://dsphotosblog.wordpress.com/2015/11/23/sony-a7ii-firmware-update-2-0-review-part-i/
  9. Hey! I have a problem with my Commlite EF-NEX adapter. Yesterday I mounted a Canon 24-105 with it on two different Sony Alpha 7s. Bith cameras are running firmware version 2.0. On one Aperture, stabilizer, ... was working. On the other, I couldn't change the F-Stop and the camera told me that I should mount the lens properly. In the exifs of the pictures from the second camera, there's no metadata about the lens at all. I thought the second camera might be broken, but with a speedbooster from metabones, mounting the lens was no problem at all and shooting with a sony lens as well. Where could the problem be? Software issues? Best Regards Felix
  10. In Part II of my Review for the Sony A7II Firmware 2.0 Update i´m comparing 3 affordable autofocus adapters Canon to Sony E-Mount. The contenders: Commlite Viltrox Fotga I´m also taking a quick look on the uncompressed RAW feature which is now available on the Sony A7II. Get some popcorn and beer and watch my video! http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=390
  11. I recently bought Sony A7sii , am using Commlite adapter with the Canon lenses. Its causing the F-- problem continuously. I removed the lens and tried to remount, but no use still the same issue. Is this a problem with the adapter or any other thing to do. Please suggest me.
