  1. Since de-forking it, I have replaced my Meade etx125's camera and eyepiece plastic back with an aluminum Wegat back. Using that and the Celestron T-adapter SC and an adapter that connects everything to my a7, I had hoped to be able to use the etx125 as a telephoto lens. But I am not able to bring anything to focus because the connecting tube is not the right length to bring images to focus onto the camera's sensor. Does anyone know which connector is the correct one to use please? The standard Meade fare is not likely to be any use since they were designed to attach to the plastic camera holder.

  3. This question came up in a discussion I had recently, and I thought the forum might have some thoughts. First Sony increased the size of the a7 bodies from gen 1 to 2, and now they seem to for the most part release large lenses to compete with DSLRs. For me the small and lightweight system was why I got into the A7 series in the first place. Still very happy with the A7sii and 55 fe lens but would love to see more lenses from sony in that size range.
  4. Hi Everyone, This is my second post in SAF, I took a shot when Saturday, actually this is the last weekend you can see the sunrise pass through the road in this year. After this year, the footbridge will tear down because it only photographer will walk on it . This photo composite by 3 photos, with +-2EV exposure bracketing in A7 function. High EV to fusing dark part, and low EV fix star burst, finally a normal exposure to fix motion blur for car and passenger. Share to you and hope you like it!!! take shot with A7 and SEL1635 [Expored Sep 24, 2016] Wink from Taipei. by Hayden Liu, in Flickr
  5. Hi everyone, I own a Sony A7 and I'm preparing a trip to Singapore. Considering the weather there, extremely hot, damp and rainy, and considering the weather sealing (or lack of...) of the A7, do you think it could be risky for the camera and the lenses ? I'm more worried about condensation than rain. Advice or experiences will be appreciated. Thanks.
  6. I use Metz-52 AF-1 on Sony A7. Build quality and flash work is very good for me. But AF-beam (focus assist) from flash unit is not activated. I did "On" at "AF-beam" in flash settings and "On" at "focus assist" in camera setting, and still red diode work from camera only! What is wrong? All firmware is up to date. Sony A7 - V3.1 and Metz-52 - V1.2. PS: I was using YN-568EX on Nikon D7000 with laser AF-assist two years ago (before I moved from Nikon at Sony). This couple work very good: camera is focusing in any dark even at long range.
  7. Shot of the interior atrium of the state capitol building in Hartford, CT. Captured with my Sony A7 (original) with SEL1018 ultrawide zoom. All shot at the ideal focal setting of 15mm, so that's a true 15mm WA on the full frame Sony. As you may know, this is a cropped frame lens, but works in the middle of the 10-18mm range quite well on the A7. Lens also has the benefit of being stabilized, so my A7 behaves as well as the A7ii in low light at around 400 ISO at f/8, handheld.
  8. Hello everyone ! After extensive readings on this forum, I post today to write a question to which I can't find the answer anywhere Back in time, I used to shoot with a Pentax K10D, and was always using the following trick : I would focus with half-pressing the shutter, then press it completely to shoot, and after that hold it half way to lock the focus and be able to take the next picture with whatever focus point I had on the first shot (without the autofocus having to work again). I currently shoot a Fuji X100 that won't let me do that (even if I only release the shutter to half way and shoot another pic, the autofocus will start over for the new picture rather than shooting straight away). I am now about to switch to a A7 and was wondering if I could use it the same way I used to shoot my old K10D. Unfortunately my local shop let me hold a A7 but not turn it on so I couldn't test myself. So if one of you users of the A7 could let me know if this is possible with this camera it would be awesome !! Thanks a lot !
  9. Just joined this group and searched the topic and didn't find anything.....apologies if this has already been covered. I shoot Nikon professionally but also have an A6000 walk around that I love. I've started hanging some legacy lenses off the Sony and, overall, am very pleased w/ the result. I'm going to purchase a Sony FF mirrorless just for that purpose (too much invested in Nikon to make complete switch and do love their cameras) and am wondering about which one to go with. My question: Given that the camera will be used almost exclusively for legacy lenses, can I get away w/ purchasing an older Sony FF mirrorless (A7) or do newer bodies generally yield a significantly better image w/ legacy glass? Realize this may be a hornet nest type of question but hope not. Thanks for your help, much appreciated

  14. I was planning on purchasing a Shogun Flame for the my A7RII before I heard of the new release of the Ninja Inferno, they both supply the XLR Phantom power I was looking to add my my recorder (why ninja flame wasnt an option) From what I can see the biggest difference is that the Shogun has a SDI input and output and the Ninja can record up to 60FPS at 4K, neither of which seem apply to the A7RII but I guess would depend on which of the two is more useful for future projects with different cameras. Is there anything I'm not taking into account for us A series users? I also read today by a B&H staff member that this device shoots 4K 60fps on the sony A7SII however this seems unlikely, but if anyone has any information would be great to hear it.
  15. Hi, Since an update my remote app is only showing very limited possibilities. Basically I can only press the shutter, and choose between direct shot or 2 sec selftimer. All other options are not available. I've tried updating the camera software, but got the message that it wasn't necessary. I also deleted the app from my IPhone and re-installed it. Any ideas on how to solve this? See attach for a screenshot of my remote. Thanks.
  16. I am researching the Canon TS-E 17mm f4 lens to use for architecture. I would be interested to get some feedback from anyone using this lens with either the Metabones or Sigma adapters on either an A7ii or A7Rii body. Are there any functional issues affecting manual focus particularly focus peaking and focus assist magnification? Is there any loss of sharpness? Does auto exposure work correctly? I would really appreciate hearing from people with first hand experience of using this lens with either of these adapters. Many thanks.

  20. Just another question while I'm waiting on my Sony A7 I'm just wondering if it is possible to use Nikons VR or Tamrons VC when adapted to Sony A7? Maybe it's not but it would be nice to have image stabilization. Just wondering if those IS technologies work independent of camera bodies or must the camera body support the IS on the lenses in question?
  21. If I sell a body with a couple of purchased apps do I remove them first so I can reinstall that on a new body? Has any done a upgrade to a newer model and done this ? how do you go about it?
  22. Hi! I wrote a little blogpost about my visit at the Feuerkogel in Upper Austria in Summer 2014. All pictures were taken with the Sony A7 and the Sony Zeiss FE 35 F2.8. Post with all pictures at my blog Take a look if you like! Constructive critique is also appreciated! Cheers Tom
