  1. I'm trying to get a feel for the 24-70 F2.8 when used for portraits. Would it be possible for any of you to post some portraits you've shot with the 24-70 lens? Thanks.
  2. A lake full of swans before sunset, with some awesome clouds rolling in. Shot this near Ormož, Slovenia with Sony a99 and ZA 24-70 f2.8 SSM
  3. New toy arrived this morning! I'll be doing some real world tests for my own satisfaction mainly over the next few days...but thought I'd start with a size comparison including the Canon 2.8 mkii on it's metabones adapter Let the (unscientific) testing begin! Jon www.jonroberts.co.uk
  4. I recently came into a package deal and I'm wondering if its a good deal or not. Its a newer Sony A7ii along with kit lens, Zeiss 24-70 f/4, Sony 70-200 f/4, and a Rokinon e-mount 14mm f/2.8. All equipment is lightly used, seller has switched to Fuji. Price for package $3000 Thoughts??
  5. 24-70mm f4 Sony/Ziess owners. I just ran some lens tests on my 24-70mm F4. Overall, I'm happy. It's a good lens, not stellar, however, the color, contrast lack of color aberrations are all excellent, better than a lot of my Canon and Nikon short teles in those areas actually. It's decently sharp too. I tend to shoot primes for paying work. However, I wanted a decent, lightweight walk around lens and I think this could be it. I got it on Amazon Prime so I have a couple more days to decide. Here's my question: Do other owners find it to distort at f4 towards the sides (at any focal length)? Is this normal? At f4.5 it's almost gone at f5 the distortion is gone. To be honest, that's my only issue. If that's my only real issue did I get a decent copy? I can attach some lens test shots if you want. Thanks Scott
  6. Hello everyone ! After extensive readings on this forum, I post today to write a question to which I can't find the answer anywhere Back in time, I used to shoot with a Pentax K10D, and was always using the following trick : I would focus with half-pressing the shutter, then press it completely to shoot, and after that hold it half way to lock the focus and be able to take the next picture with whatever focus point I had on the first shot (without the autofocus having to work again). I currently shoot a Fuji X100 that won't let me do that (even if I only release the shutter to half way and shoot another pic, the autofocus will start over for the new picture rather than shooting straight away). I am now about to switch to a A7 and was wondering if I could use it the same way I used to shoot my old K10D. Unfortunately my local shop let me hold a A7 but not turn it on so I couldn't test myself. So if one of you users of the A7 could let me know if this is possible with this camera it would be awesome !! Thanks a lot !
  7. I have owned a Sony Zeiss 24-70/2.8 SSM lens for about 6 years. Since I bought it (new), I have told myself the sharpness at the corners is normal. Maybe I have been trying to justify the cost of the lens, but I want to know what you think. I also want to hear form other SAL2470Z owners. What do you think of the lens you own? Does it look like this in the corners? (For full resolution version, click here.) This shot was handheld with a Sony a900 at ISO200, 1/500sec, ƒ7.1. I made sure to turn off any distortion correction in Capture One, and turned the sharpening down to zero. Note the smeared details at the corners. For what it's worth, no amount of correction in Capture One fixes this issue. Everywhere else in the image is amazingly sharp and always has been. It's just the corners that annoy me. If this were a $500 lens, I'd maybe get used to it, but it was over $1200 and that stings. I've also noticed that even a single filter causes terrible vignetting at the corners at 24mm. Again, I've told myself this is normal, but it sucks when I use a polarizing filter for a landscape and I end up with black corners at the widest focal length. You can see it slightly in this shot. Apertures smaller than ƒ8 are much worse.
  8. Give me!He looks like, he just wanna have my cam. Taken with my Sony A7r II an Sony FE 24-70 GM at 24 mm f2.8.
  9. Hello! I was just wondering if I could get any advice from somebody who adapts their cannon lenses to their e mount cameras? I have an a6300 and want to buy the cannon 24-70mm f/2.8 along with the mc-11 adapter, is this a good idea? I've tried searching for anybody on youtube/forums with this setup and only found a couple videos with the a7rii. I'm looking for an all around good lens, something for photojournalism, portraits and landscapes. I'm also considering the 18-105 f/4 sony lens, but am worried about the aperture not being quick enough and the sharpness not matching the cannon. Thanks for any help!!!!
  10. Exposure Settings: 15s, F4, ISO400, 24mm Unbelievable detail from the A7RII - Love it!
  11. Had some time with the brandnew Sony A7sII + Zeiss 24-70 F4 yesterday and took some photos with it. Have a look at my Hands on First lowlight impression! http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=432
