New Sony FE 100F2.8 GM - what your take ?

Recommended Posts

Really interesting. I think the aperture is OK, since you need a bit to get sufficient DOF, and the STF feature must be interesting too.

I need a macro along the lines of the Milvus 100/2, and a lightweight Batis at 135mm would be nice too. However this lens is quite interesting and the prices is, I guess, also reasonable.

STF needs room, there will be quite a difference between f-stop and T-stop anyway. Unfortunately Sony is not telling us T-stop yet.

And, believe me, it's something unique!

I just hope that both of these lenses will have open aperture AF…

Well as per official images from Sony it says T-stop is equivalent to F5.6 - so does this means that this is not lens actually for indoor Wedding shoots ? As long as you are outdoor in bright light you should be fine but for most wedding photographers it is dealing with lights indoor.

Do you thinkg FE90 F2.8 will give better results indoor compared to 100F2.8 GM ?

Having seen some sample shots from this lens, I'm becoming more interested in it. The background in some of the macro shots (flowers) is very nice indeed.

Acoarst ! A whole 10mm worth :-)

Plus hugely better transmission.

There is no real rationale for comparing those two lenses.

Comparing it to the 90 macro is only natural because of their similar use cases.

Both will work for portraits and product shots.

Though they are technically and in terms of resulting imagery very different.

First sentence is in direct conflict with third sentence, rendering

middle sentence rather dubious.

Essentially, a 90 macro is a very practical working man's tool

but a "Majik Bokeh" lens is an enthusiast's chatzke.
