Thanks for the announcement.  Money spent.  Update downloaded.

Now I need to go read the bugfix list to see if the memory leak on Win10 is plugged.  I also need to see if the AWR failed condition that halts a file save when using layers and "processing" an image has been corrected.

Other than these things (from CP1 v9), this is pretty good stuff.  I love the IQ through the raw converter.

David, can you give us a sense of how much faster the image rendering is on v10 vs v9.  For an example, on my 2016 MBP 15", C1 still lags when I am rotating an image for a7Rii.  The same image in 3yr old Aperture v3.6 rotates without hesitation.

Thanks in advance.

You are better served by checking the user forums : http://forum.phaseone.com/En/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=24977

Generally, the problem is that C1 will often, but not always, recalculate the image. There is supposed to be a cache, to speed things up, but it seems to me that if you toggle quickly between images then the caching does not work. If I count "one potato two" between toggling between images, then sometimes the caching works.

Actually, the normal description of how Preview Caching works given by C1 support ... does not match the C1 documentation. So I think there is a general misunderstanding of what is going on, why changing preview size does not actually help.

You will get the usual Blah about preview size or video card type, but these are Macs ... my impression is that Capture One don't understand, its not rendering speed that is the problem, its that each time you select an image it is being recalculated/rendered. Even if you don't make any edits.

Rendering speed does depend on the amount of data to process, I find it much faster when images are zoomed to 300%, but I'm not sure how useful that tip is    ;)

Just now, an import with 4 images, each with about 5 modifications. toggling through the images, one image was cached others were continually recalculated, then I did an export of one of the slower images, then more toggling through the images, now all 4 images a continually recalculated ... no caching no matter how many potatoes I count.

timde, thanks for that.  Your spot on about switching images from one to another.

It seems that C1 regenerates preview from raw each time something is touched, change of view, small adjustments or what have you.

Regardless of how its done, clearly its a sw issue and not hw....

    • I'd opt for a small zoom, but I must admit that there seems to be a dearth of lenses in the e-mount in the 24-50mm range -- for some reason.  I have a small 24-70mm, but that's an a-mount Tamron.  Maybe you can find something by looking at lenses slightly longer.  I have a heavy, but small 24-100mm a-mount, and Tokina made a 24-200mm a-mount.  Maybe there are similar lenses in the e-mount.  Kill three birds with one stone.
    • I recently got an a7cii and to pair with the compact body, I thought of getting 2 of the trio compact lenses, 24mm F2.8 and 40mm F4.0. (I already have a 70-200mm) However I stumbled upon the newly released 24-50mm F2.8 G. I'm not sure which to get - I like the small factor of the prime lenses ON the body because it's discreet and helps me blend in as an average tourist / doesn't make it obvious when doing street. But if I add the dimensions of the 2 primes together, it takes up more space in the bag than the zoom lens. BUT THEN, the weight of the 2 prime lenses is 110g lesser than the zoom lens. The zoom lens has the added benefit of being more versatile.   So now I'm stumped. Each has their pros and cons and I can't decide which to get. I'd like to hear the views of you guys who are more experts at this.   Edit: I'm a bit concerned about weight because the last time I went overseas my shoulders were aching from carrying too much. Which is why I was looking for small compact primes in the first place.
    • Hi, I have got a6300 which shutter stopped working. I managed to change shutter but unfortunatelly broke shutter motor tape but I fixed that. After repair the shutter is working but not in a proper way, watch with sound. I bought the second shutter and tried to test it before dissaembling again and it doesn't react to magnet but it works fine when I apply 3V. Are there different type of shutter for a6000 - a6400? Back to the question what is wrong with my shutter after first repair? I don't want to put next shutter unfoundedly. Do your sony cameras perform such a self-check after start up?  IMG_5579 (1).webm
