  1. Hi all, I´m new to this forum. (I just found it) Having a bit of a problem with my A77M2 and a SAL70200G. (Gen1) If i have the camera in fully manual mode and set the exposure as camera tells me to, I get over exposed pictures. (if i follow the small arrows that shows exposure in view finder) If i adjust settings to under exposed as much as 2.0, I get correct exposure. Is there something wrong with the lens? (Bought it second hand) Or is there any settings for light reading that i have missed? Have tried to shot in fully automatic mode and it seems OK sometimes i get slightly over exposed pictures there too. See attached pics. The over exposure one is when camera says its OK 0.0 in viewfinder. (200mm, F8, 1/160 sec, ISO400 ) The other, correct exposured one has -2.0 in viewfinder (200mm F8, 1/250, ISO 100)
  2. My recently acquired Phottix OdinII TTL for Sony MIS, works just fine with my A7RII, not my A7s. I have the Phottix Indra 360, it just does not get triggered by the A7s at all. I use both Sony and Canon L lenses with a metabones adapter on both/either cameras. The lenses don't seem to make a difference. Tried both combinations. I have a Sony flash which works on both cameras. everything else works fine on both cameras, no issues. Any ideas? suggestions?
  3. I'm a few weeks in with my a7RII and am slowly getting my head around shooting and coloring using S-LOG2. The results have been super impressive so far but one thing that I can't seem to figure out is how to manually control my ISO as well as my exposure (using the manual dial) while shooting in Manual (movie) Mode. For example, I've set my ISO to 3200 and would like to overcompensate let's say +2.0. But it seems that the only time the exposure dial responds is when the ISO is set to 'Auto' otherwise the camera automatically controls the exposure. This is driving me crazy, any help would be incredibly appreciated.
  4. Hi, new to the forum and the camera! The image is what I got with the handshake SCN settings, trying to get the background closer to white. Can anyone tell me how to set white balance? I'm doing some studio shots with a white background. Over time, I will invest in studio strobes. Right now, trying to push the camera, to both see the background as white, and also not blow out the subject too much. I'm thinking some kind of combination with HDR and exposure adjustment? Any advice?
  5. Greetings all, I couldn't find an answer to these problems I have been having lately with the A7iii, so hopefully you guys can help! I am shooting real estate on an A7iii with a 16-35 Zeiss F4 and a Godox V860ii-s hot shoe flash in TTL mode. Here are my problems: For one, if I leave the camera in auto white balance and even on a tripod, the camera will produce two completely different images if I take two pictures. One shot will be properly balanced color and the other will be all orange/red. The other issue I have is with my exposure and the communication from the A7iii to the flash. My colleague shoots using a Nikon Z6 and Canon EOS-R. Both cameras have native 16-35 F4 lenses on them and both are using the same hot shoe light. What's frustrating me is, despite setting all 3 cameras to 1/30, F8 and ISO 640, his Nikon and EOS-R produce far better exposed shots than my A7iii. It's obviously not the lenses or our exposure settings, so I must have missed a hidden setting on the A7iii menu system or the communication between the A7iii and the Godox flash. Either way, I'm frustrated with having to either crank the ISO to 1,600-2,000 or waste time/money with figuring out the manual flash settings on the Godox for each room of the house. Is there any advice anyone can give me to help solve these issues?
  6. I used to own the A7sII and I remember when I would shoot in low light, the camera/viewfinder would expose up to see the image and grab focus on the subject and then when the shutter was pressed it would go back to the settings I had initially setup. I thought this was an awesome feature because I could see the image/composition before snapping the photo. Is there a way to do this with the A7RIII? Thanks for the help! 7. I'm an underwater photographer and i'm wondering if I can set up exposure bracketing (in any of the 3 or 5 shot configurations) while I have an external flash connected? The bracketing works fine without the flash connected, but as soon as I turn it on/connect it, the bracketing stops working. Perhaps there's a particular set of setting that need to be configured to allow this to happen, or perhaps it's just not possible. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  8. I purchased a Sony a6500 last December and I've loved using it (aside from the battery life). So far, I've used it quite a few times to conduct interviews for short documentaries or promotional work. I've conducted many interviews without issue, until now. Since I'm often working alone, I set the camera up, adjust the exposure and focus properly, and then move away from the camera to sit down and ask questions after pressing record - I always shoot interviews in complete manual mode for ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. This time I was using the Sony G- f4/18-105 lens, it was very cloudy so I had the aperture set at (f4), shutter speed around 1/200ish, and ISO I always keep as low as I can at 100. When I pressed record, the interviews were properly exposed, slowly throughout the image became brighter and brighter. By the 9-min mark, the image is so over-exposed that it is useless, and I discovered this when uploading to my computer. Is this some kind of manufacturer malfunction, is it common, or am I now unknowingly doing something drastically wrong that I wasn't before? I've attached a couple screen shots of the moment I pressed record, to the moment I stopped recording - 9:16 to show you how drastically the exposure changed. Thank you for taking the time to help out! Thanks again, Dan
  9. Am a little confused by these settings. Currently I have both on AUTO, but I see that you can set levels on each one independently -- like a level 4 on HDR and a level 2 on DRO. First, whats the difference between HDR and DRO? Are there preferred settings for either when shooting landscapes? Can I mimic their results in post processing by tinkering with RAW files? If I can do so, I won't use the in-camera functions because I like to shoot in RAW format and edit from there but can't shoot RAW when DRO/HDR is on. I am a new user of this camera and sure do like it so far. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions............ Rich
