  1. I'm using Sony A6300(latest firmware) for video (mostly) and using my Android phone and the latest Smart Remote Control for visual feedback. Before I'm connecting the phone with the camera I set up everything including picture profile like s-log2/3. But as soon as I'm connecting the phone and the camera the picture profile change to default. Is anybody know why is this happening and/or how to prevent it? Thanks, dns
  2. Hello all, I'm new to the forum as well as the Sony Alpha world. Recently I purchased an a7s and more recently, had my first run shooting in slog2. Once I got to my computer, my first instinct was to import my files to Premiere CC. Once imported, I noticed the files were .mp4, not .mov which seems odd. Upon review of the footage, the picture is pretty noisy and overall the quality seems off. I'm not sure if I'm missing a step in handling these files, or if something is just wrong altogether. Again, this is all new to me. I was expecting the picture to be flat and rather dull before color correction- which it is- but the overall quality seems rather poor to be from slog2. I've included a screen grab of the folder and contents from the card I shot on if this helps. Thanks!

  4. I'm a few weeks in with my a7RII and am slowly getting my head around shooting and coloring using S-LOG2. The results have been super impressive so far but one thing that I can't seem to figure out is how to manually control my ISO as well as my exposure (using the manual dial) while shooting in Manual (movie) Mode. For example, I've set my ISO to 3200 and would like to overcompensate let's say +2.0. But it seems that the only time the exposure dial responds is when the ISO is set to 'Auto' otherwise the camera automatically controls the exposure. This is driving me crazy, any help would be incredibly appreciated.
  5. Hi, I got my a7s a few weeks ago and I'm still in the process of getting oriented. I managed to get by most challenges but seem to be getting completely stuck on this one. I'm trying to stick with shooting slog2 and sgamut for now to see how far I can push the camera in it's "most native" mode. I can do some basic grading using LUTs etc to get back a nice natural looking image. However, when trying to push the footage beyond that and apply a look to it, it just falls apart. More specifically, I've tried various ways of pulling a key in secondary color correction but it is just not clean or smooth. It picks up various stuff from other parts of the image and I can't work with it. I tried using power windows in all sorts of combinations including tracking. However, whatever I try it allays ends up somewhat messy and awkward. So at this point I'm ready to conclude that I'm hitting the limits of grading 8 bit footage. There just isn't enough data there to be efficient or even workable for more involved grading. I understand that this is very image specific, still I think what I'm trying to accomplish is reasonable. What are your experiences? How do you pull key/grade 8 bit footage? Keep in mind that I'm pretty new to color grading and videography in general. Thanks
  6. One of my dreams was, to buy the A7s as a video camera and use it with a 10" android or windows tablet via liveview, connected via wlan or usb cable. I just cant believe that this is not possible,so it must be me who doesent get it how that works: When I connect the camera with the remote controll app from sony to my android phone, it doesent allowes me to use slog2 (or any color profile at all). When I connect the camera with my windows computer (via usb cable) there doesent seems to be a programm to use live view at all. Please could someone tell me how to get that fixed? With my old Canon from 2011 I can use both: Liveview with a picture profile AND liveview with my computer without any problem, sorry if I'm too stupid to do it with my new camera, advice would be really appreciated
