B&H Shipping Problem on A7R3

Recommended Posts

I know others have had this problem. Item shows as not shipped on UPS tracking. I called B&H again today and they told me UPS has a huge backlog of packages to scan, but that the packages have left the B&H dock. In other words, they're blaming this on UPS. Not sure if I'm buying it. I live in California, so my shipping via B&H's "Expedited" is ground, 7 days. Anybody else with this problem that lives closer to NYC who may have already received their package? Anybody else with insights on this? Anybody else wishing they'd bought from somebody other than B&H?

On the Facebook page, there are lots of people whining about deliveries from B+H, Adorama and Amazon, yet there are also people who got cameras from any of the three. (Mine from Amazon showed up today.) It's a very high demand item and retailers may be rushing to fill the orders. I can't view your image ("no permission") - I assume B+H at least gave you a tracking number?

Oops. Not my best effort in the post department.

Yeah, they gave me tracking, which still shows as not picked up. I'm beginning to suspect the tracking number is a placeholder to keep me from cancelling my order and buying the camera from a retailer that actually has it in stock.  I think B&H didn't actually ship the camera because they didn't actually get it in stock, and this is a tactic to delay. I've received several other orders from B&H shipped the same day, and before and after, and those have all left and arrived no problem. This is just too fishy to be a UPS glitch, that just happens to the A7R3, and not just mine. This will be my last order from B&H.  I don't have time for such shenanigans.

Have had the same problem with 2 high dollar shipments. 3 smaller dollar shipments were handled with no problems. On one of the shipments I kept getting a UPS notice that a next day package is coming and needs a signature. I waited all day for 3 days in a row. On the 3rd day it finally arrived. The shipment notice goes out when the UPS label is created, but it does not mean the package is actually shipped.

Usually BH is outstanding, but they seem to be having some problems. I think their weekly Jewish holy day shutdown is affecting their service.

@slackercruster - why no mention of the effect that Sundays and weekends as a whole has on online retailers?

The actual issue here is probably that Sony is unable to deliver enough cameras and lenses to fill all preorders.

    • I just found your post as I was searching for an answer to the same question.  I realized that I can not set the external flash setup in my Sony A7CII when I attach any of my Godox and Insignia flashes.  They seem to work fine, other than the auto zoom being stuck at the widest focal length, but flash settings are greyed out in the menu. Did you ever figure out an answer for this?
    • So long story short, I'm at a crossroads and need to unload some gear. My main cam is a A7R3. I also lucked into a Fuji GFX100s a few years ago. Because of some upcoming things, I really need to sell some stuff. I could sell the old Pentax kit, but can't bring myself to. On the other end, I don't want to get rid of the Fuji either. What I'm thinking is sell both the Fuji kit and my A7R3, get an A7R5 and call it a day. I get a camera that really bridges most of the gaps between my current Sony & the Fuji's capabilities. Yeah I loose some stuff from the Fuji, but I'd also be slimming down to one lens ecosystem.  I'd keep the Pentax as there are things I specifically use it for. I can't bring myself to pull the trigger and go the R5 route & life with out the 102mp medium format. Thoughts or other options? My photography: mostly night photography, b&w and minitatures (yeah, Star Wars type stuff.) And landscapes, something bothe the Pentax & Fuji do really well with. If I got rid of the Fuji and upgrade fropm the R3, I pocket lots of needed cash and still have something that checks alot  of the boxes the Fuji does.
    • Are you using a genuine Sony, fully charged battery?  Do you have an A/C adapter?  Do you have a user manual -- these tell you have to deal with these types of problem -- like a complete reset.
