Weird delay when using strobe

I have been having an issue when using strobe with a wireless trigger, now and then when i press the shutter button to take an exposure the screen goes dark and it stalls for a moment and then takes the exposure. Rather then there normally being no delay to taking the photo. Any thoughts what this might be?

I have experienced the same thing on and off, with A7ii and Nissin wireless flash and commander.  Sometimes switching the camera off and on again, corrects it, but I have had occassions where I had to take the commander off the camera and after putting it back on it bahaved normal again, no delay. What the cause is? No idea!!
