Diobono
Last autumn there were some rumors about a new medium format Sony camera. A collaboration Sony/Mamiya, expected to result in two brand named cameras, with the same Sony sensor, probably using the same lens lineup( Mamiya?), but with different viewfinders. Any rumors about this? Is it for instance possible that the new A-mount is only an upgrade of the A99II, but not named as the new A9 as many are thinking? Could instead the new A9 be this earlier mentioned new medium format Sony? Any rumors or thoughts anyone?
Advertisement Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Hi Diobono, Take a look here What about Sony medium format?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Golem
` Don't count on it. "Normal" 24x36 sensors are about to hit 50mp. Earlier leaks about the 50mp cameras led some to assume 50mp had to mean "medium format." BTW most "medium format" digital cameras are not worth sneezing at. They are not of medium format sensor dimension but are basically super 35. Actually just a tiny bit bigger than super 35, but thaz just not worth the quantum leap in size and cost that makers are charging for a modest increase in format dimensions. Just as the D-SLR had to evolve from sub-35 to full 35 format to become a credible tool, medium format digital cameras will have to evolve into a full medium format dimension or just go away. I expect they will just go away. There is no longer enuf oxygen in the atmosphere to support such oversize creatures. `
