Right now: 16-35/4; 35/1.4; 90/2.8M

Future: ~14/2.8, 35/1.4, 85/1.4GM

I also own the 55/1.8, but it lacks the magic of the 35/1.4 and I hardly use it anymore, unless when weight is an issue.

Of course a full set of 3 GM f/2.8 zooms would be a dream to have too, but I'm more into fast primes.

I'm just amazed that only one has spoken anything above 85mm.

As a Nikon shooter in addition to a7rii, the trio most often mentioned in Nikon DSLR is 12-24, 24-70 and 70-200 all f2.8.  I think Mr_A7s mentioned its equivalent for E mount.  He's also the only one with anything longer than 85mm.

The notion of only 3 fails me.  If we go with 4, then I think it can workout:

UWA (16~20mm range prime, e.g., Batis 18)

Normal (50~60mm prime, e.g., Zsony 55)

Telephoto Zoom 70-200

Telephoto Prime 300

All with AF, including UWA because I do indoor with moving subjects too. UWA is not just for landscapes....

Dream list (won't buy, not worth the money)
1. Sony 85mm 1.4 GM (portrait)
2. Samyang 24mm (astro)
3. Batis 18mm (landscape/travel)

If I want smaller travel / hiking kit, then its:

Loxia 21 f/2.8

Loxia 50 f/2

Zeiss ZM 85 f/4

No excuses for anything less than incredible IQ with either of these two kits!

This is interesting. It would have been exactly my alternative set. The ZM 85 f/4 doesn't get much love because it is rather slow and has no AF. But it renders so beautifully on any A7. It's compact, extremely well built and fits in a pocket of a jacket.

It's not I don't have I do and carry: 135mm f2 Apo zf.2 180mm f2.8 Nikon and Contax 100-300 + 2x teleconvertor

It is a saint list so I noted my most regularly used lenses.

For travel I use similar:

Loxia 21mm

Loxia 35mm

Zeiss Sony 55mm

Contax 90mm G

KlausH, I totally agree with you on the Zeiss ZM 85mm f/4.  In addition to rendering well, it is very sharp.   Hard to judge from small file size, but . . .

Hello! Ignacio 22

i have also Summicron 35mm and love it!

I never tried the Loxia 35mm, but was thinking of it.

Why have you discarded the Loxia 35mm?
