Memory card Sony Alpha 7 AR11

Recommended Posts

I purchased the Sony Alpha 7A R11 and was wondering what would be the fastest memory card available for my camera. Thank you for your help

I don't know if it is the fastest card but I bought two for my ILCE-7RM2 - Lexar Pro 1000X 64GB SDXC II U3 Class 10 150MB/s

Got one from MyMemory and one through Amazon they were about £23UKP each

Got these for 4K video as well as stills

Almost any mid-fast card [range of 60 to 80 +/-] will

put the camera at or very near maximum write speed.

The cameras don't write any faster with a faster card,

but bulk transfers to your PC will be quicker with a

faster card, assuming your PC has a fast card slot or

use of a USB3 card reader.

That site simply confirms general knowledge, but

it IS good to see confirmation. Something they did

NOT test [correct me if I overlooked] is: "Do cards

slow down as they fill up?" My semi-edumacated

superstition nagging at me suspects that as they

get full they should slow down. Since card capacity

sells cheaper than card speed, I choose far more

capacity than I need for stills. I rarely do video but

when I do, I'm glad I have the bigger cards. I have

never filled even half a card doing stills, so I can

happily go on believing that all that empty space

is keeping the card up to speed.

FWIW, I kinda sorta mindlessly settled on 64 GB

for SD and 32 GB for CF. My cameras are in the

18 to 24 MP range. Should work as well for 36 MP,

but for a 40 or 50 MP camera I'd use bigger cards.

Did you read their analysis near bottom page?
