Problem with NEX screen (posterization)

Hello, appreciate any input/advice!

 

I use a NEX3 which has served me rather well. 

 

Recently though, whatever is seen on the screen has this strange posterized look (lines between different gradients of colour, especially obvious for portraits), which is rather annoying when I'm trying to capture photos or viewing them on the camera.

 

Photos on the computer are normal without the posterization, so I'm certain it's the camera itself. Wasn't able to find anyone facing a similar problem here on the forums.

Am hoping that I did something wrong in the settings and it can be easily resolved, but in the case that it isn't, I was thinking of upgrading to NEX6/7 as I have other E mount lenses that I've invested in.
