Guest Peter Kelly
Yes, of course there will be different abilities and some limitations, but knowing that my A7 kit is much mighter than the A99 kit I used to use I thought I'd do a rough comparison. The respective kits are: 2 of A7Rii with grips 2 of A99 with grips 2 of Nissin i40 flash 2 of Sony HVL-F60M 16-35 f4 16-35 f2.8 24-70 f4 24-70 f2.8 70-200 f4 70-200 f2.8 55 f1.8 85 f1.4 The A7 kit is a full 3 kg lighter and, boy, does it feel like it! I loved my A99s, the extra battery life was great, and sometimes the limited DoF poses a minor issue, but at my time of life I don't regret the swap. So the next time anyone says the A7 series is not much of a difference, don't believe a word of it! fermin and Al Pha

fermin
Real difference here, too. I had a Nikon D810, 14-24-70-200/2.8 ("holy trinity"), 105/2.8, 85/1.8, 50/1.4, 35/1.4, total around 6500g. Went to A7R II, 16-35/4, 50/1.8, 90/2.8, 35/2.8 - total 2100g. I'll also get the Loxia 21/2 in December (394g) and maybe a bit later the 70-200/4 (840g), in the end totalling around 3.3 kg. Guest Peter Kelly
Not only is the whole kit lighter, which is SO nice, but when dressed for action using both bodies and flashes, with the 24-70 and 70-200 on a BlackRapid double strap, the difference is like night and day. I could likely run flat out in that get-up if needed, whereas before, to move anywhere quickly, was more like a squaddie's forced march with full kit! fermin
