  1. Thank you very much. I actually discovered this feature after I wrote my question. I leave my camera settings for landscape as the default and program button C2 for wildlife. The only problem is that in order to use this I have to hold down the C2 button to keep the settings for wildlife then go about composing the shot etc., before I click the shutter button. If at any time I let up on the C2 button it reverts back to the default landscape settings. In my opinion this kind of defeats the purpose and is not what I was hoping for. Again, thank you for responding.
  2. I just purchased the Sony A7RIVA. I do two types of photography more or less, wildlife (birds mostly) and landscapes. These camera settings for each are quite different. I tried looking this up on the Internet but there is so much information I didn't know where to begin. I'm hoping someone here can at least steer me in the right direction. What I would like to do is have one set of settings for wildlife and assign a button to those settings and another different set of settings for landscape and have a button that will switch to those settings as the need arises. First, is this even possible? And secondly, if it is, can someone please direct me to some reasonably plain language instructions on how to accomplish this? Thank you very much!
  3. I know there has been discussion about bags for the Sony 200-600mm lens and I'm not trying to rehash that. I am about to buy the Think Tank Photo Digital Holster to carry my A7R3 with my Sony 200-600mm. The bag was actually designed for a Sigma 500mm lens I think and the answers about whether it will work with a setup similar to mine on B&H aren't very convincing. So, I would really appreciate it if anyone who has a similar camera and has actually tried this bag with the 200-600mm lens could please tell me if it worked and how well it worked. Thanks very much in advance! Dennis
  4. Hi all. I thought I knew how to take long exposure photographs, but evidently I was wrong. My previous experience was with a Canon 80D DSLR. I've never tried it with a mirrorless camera. I don't do it very much but went out a couple of times the last couple of weeks to brush up on it and had some weird results. I currently shoot with a Sony A7RIII. I was using a 10-stop ND filter mounted on a Tamron 17-28mm lens and wanted to use f/8 aperture. I had my ISO set at 100. I set the composition then put the filter on. I was just playing around so I didn't have a particular exposure time in mind for the clouds I was using as my subject, I just wanted to do something like between 3 - 5 seconds. I was in manual mode. As I was adjusting my shutter speed I noticed that my aperture started to change. I didn't think that was supposed to happen. Clearly I don't know what I'm doing. Was hoping you could recommend a good tutorial that would help me get back on track. *Please note I also tried this with a Sony 70-300G OSS lens and had the same issues. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!
  5. Hi folks. I'm sure this has been asked somewhere but I tried searching for it and couldn't find it so I'm hoping someone can help me. Since I've owned my Sony A7RIII I've been getting this error message screen that says: "This operation or setting not available as follows Focus Mode Single Shot AF" It will go away if I push any button, but it is getting annoying plus I obviously am doing something wrong. It doesn't seem to matter what lens I use, I get the same message. I would be really grateful if anyone could tell me what's going on here and what I need to do to correct it. Thank you very much!
  6. I hope this is the place to ask this. If not, please disregard it. I have been trying to use the Imagine Edge App with my A7RIII and it is so frustrating I have just stopped trying. So, I've gone in search of a remote control. Preferably a wireless one. I've had my eye on the Sony RMT-P1BT Wireless Remote Commander but the ratings on B&H are less than stellar. I shoot outdoor photos almost exclusively and really need a reliable remote. I'm hoping you folks can recommend the best remote control choice. Thanks in advance!
  7. Hey if this is the wrong forum for this question, I apologize in advance. I need a zoon lens for my new A7RIII that is at least 600mm for nature, wildlife, birds, etc photography. Ideally, I would get the Son 200-600mm lens, but with tax, it is over $2000 and that's stretching my budget right now. I saw on B&H the Sigma 150-600mm w/ MC-11 adapter at about 1/2 the price. The reviews were mixed and I'm not entirely certain it would work on the A7RIII. I have a Sigma 100-400mm with the MC-11 that is okay, but can only really work in AF-S mode and is quite heavy so I don't use it much. Anyway, does anyone have experience with the Sigma 150-600mm w/ MC-11 adapter on the SonyA7RIII or can you suggest an alternative? Thanks for your time!
  8. Hi everyone. I'm pretty new here. I have a Sony A7III and shoot mostly outdoors photography. I'm considering buying a 200-600mm lens but have also heard rumors that Sony is going to be introducing the Sony A7IV soon. I have a 400mm lens that works for most purposes so the longer length isn't that critical and I'm wondering if I should save my money and wait till the A7IV comes out. Has anyone heard when Sony expects to release that camera. If it's going to be fairly soon, I will probably hold off buying the lens, if not, well... Any thoughts you folks might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and it's nice to be here.
  9. Hi. I’m trying to find an affordable lens for my A7III that I can attach and walk around the neighborhood with. I live in a semi-rural area so I want something that will be good for landscape shots too. Id prefer not to carry around a large lens on my walks. If anyone has any suggestions I’d be very appreciative. Thanks
  10. Thanks for your reply. I did not know about re-centering by pressing the multi-selector. Thanks for the tip.
  11. I'm new to my Sony A7III and for the most part happy, but recently I've noticed after I take a picture and move somewhere to take another, the green focus point has moved and I have to use the joy stick to recenter it. I like to keep it centered for those run and gun type of shots. Any suggestions? Thanks very much!
  12. I was following a YouTube tutorial and made some setting changes and saved them to the 1 on the MR (Memory Recall) Memory. Does anyone know how to clear those settings? Location: Camera Settings I menu, Page 3. Thanks!
