A7R II vs Rumored A7R III

Recommended Posts

I'm new to the Sony world and new to this forum, and have greatly enjoyed the information on this site.   I'm looking at my first full frame camera, and would love thoughts on purchasing the A7R II now with the price reduction and trade in rebates, or waiting for the next generation.   The rumored featured improvements sound impressive, but I wouldn't need to 70-80 megs (if proven true) and I'm concerned about a huge jump in price.   Would love to hear thoughts from seasoned Sony users.

Thanks.

I've always had better results from well-vetted

current gear than from rumored gear, cost no

object, no holds barred.

I heartily recommend that you buy the current

a7R-II. Either you'll keep it despite the release

of the next model, which will make your wallet

happy, or you will, in time, sell it and buy the

next model upgrade ... which increases supply

of great used gear, which will make my wallet

happy :-)

I've owned the A7R (sold) and now own the A7S, A7 II and A7R II.

Whether you get the A7S II, A7 II or A7R II totally depends upon what you plan to use it for!?  A7S for low light, A7 for general photography, A7R II for higher resolution (and darn good for low light as well).

All of the A7 line of cameras are great full frame cameras!

However, I find I am using the superb RX10 III for most of my photography at present...
