Viewfinder/Monitor Glitching

Over the last few days the Auto feature that switches from viewfinder to monitor has been glitching.  Sometimes when I turn on the camera, only the viewfinder lights up.  Sometimes it's the monitor first, and when I put my eye up to the viewfinder it comes on, but when I take it away the monitor does not come on - which makes it a pain to review the photos or change settings.  I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem.  thanks

Take a close look at your viewfinder dust or in my case a tiny tiny hair caused this erratic behaviour for me to the point I started to think my a7r2 was broken

Hmm must check mine, my viewfinder has become very over sensitive and cuts the monitor off a lot

That worked for now - thanks so much for the tip.  I'll see if it's a long term problem.

No flaw there. Thaz normal behavior and everyone complains

about it. There is more than one thread with advice on how to

hobble the sensitivity cuz it's normally over-sensitive, which is

exactly what you are describing.

There are dot stickers made to place over LEDs that are too bright and light up rooms at night. I cut a small piece and placed over the receiver sensor which is viewable after sliding up the eyepiece rubber thinggie. Reduced the sensitivity so I could hold the camera closer to my body without the camera automatically switching to EVF. Cut the 'nearness' switch factor down from 6" to something like 2".
