I switched from DSLR to A6700 and am taking my first steps now to get used to it (although I have used a Sony F707 long time ago)

Situation is a still life setup. Light is from a studio flash with modelling lamp. This modelling lamp is normally on, but switches off just before the picture is taken with the flash. Remote flash commander on the a6700.

At 1/125s, F10 and ISO 100 the EVF/monitor is so dark you cannot do manual focus and can hardly see the scene. This is because the camera shows the scene as-if lit with the modelling light. The workaround I now use is to switch to auto ISO while I am composing and focussing the scene and then I switch back to ISO 100 before taking the picture with the flash.

Is there a better way of handling that? Can I force the EVF/monitor to show a lighter scene without changing exposure settings?

On my DSLR I have of course the optical viewfinder and the modelling light provides enough light to compose and focus the scene, irrespective of the setting I use to actually take the picture. The exposure has to be checked afterwards (or use a separate lightmeter for flash). A different way of working.
