Greetings, I recently sold all me full frame equipment (non-Sony) and just purchased a Sony A6700. I love the small size, light weight and amazing autofocus, however nailing the exposure has been a challenge. The vast majority of my pictures is quite underexposed - anywhere from 0.5 to 1-plus EV. I've tried the different metering modes, but did not see much of an improvement. I did a few internet searches and it sounds like this is a well known A6700 "feature" for highlight protection (a bit heavy handed in my opinion). I adopted one of the online suggestions: raising the base exposure compensation by around 2/3 of a stop. I am wondering if other users of the A6700 have also experienced this issue and what was the workaraound. My previous camera generated a much more balanced exposure, so I wonder if my issue with the A6700 is due to the lower dynamic range of an APS-C sensor.

I shoot in raw, set my zebras to 109+, use mostly aperture priority with Auto ISO min SS (which I find brilliant) and use either a Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 or a Sony 70-350mm. I also try to use the histogram, which invariably shows underexposure at 0 EV (even with my added base compensation). Interestingly I don't have the same issue with my old and trusty RX100M7.

This is not a huge deal but it's quite annoying.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
