Hi everyone,

I'm experiencing an issue with my Sony A6700 videos. When I shoot and then review the footage, I notice that whenever the camera moves, the image becomes blurry and lacks sharpness. There is no stuttering or lag, just a noticeable loss of definition.

Does anyone know what might be causing this and how to fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here’s a link to the video along with my camera settings:

Camera model: Sony A6700
Lens: Sigma 18-50mm F/2.8 DC DN
Video settings:

  • 4K XAVC HS
  • 24fps
  • Shutter speed: 1/50
  • 100M 4:2:2 10bit
  • Codec: HEVC

Thanks in advance for your help!

My guess would be it's due to the fairly slow shutter speed of 1/50 sec. Ofcourse such a shutter speed makes sense as 180° shutter angle at 24 fps, but it does give quite a lot of motion blur. Try increasing the shutter speed and see if the footage sharpens up. Inevitably this will result in more 'stuttery' footage at a slow framerate of 24 fps. In the end, shooting at 4k is pretty demanding with regard to sharp and fluid motion and I'd therefore avoid panning shots at 24 fps.
