MLWolfe
I have the A7rii and 4 batteries. The batteries have incredibly short life, but I haven't used the camera for a full day in the field yet. I plan to do a hike and want to take minimal gear. Any suggestion as to how many batteries I should take for a full day of shooting? I can easily shoot 1300 pictures in a day and am wondering if I should just take my Canon. But why have a $3100 camera I can't use???

Gilgenberg
There are some tricks about saving batterie live 1 is to switch off all wire less function (Airplanemodus) 2 if you use the EVF only switch off the lcd display in the menus (you can root it to a function button) 3 you can turn the display quality to standard 4 switch off ibis if not needed 5 switch off the camera if not needed maybe other users have also useful tricks? i would take all 4 batteries
Broncos_CA
I would suggest you return the camera, that is, if you even bought one? You don't deserve it.
Guest all8
Guess you need around 8 batteries for 1300 shots. Right?

mkg3
Speaking of extra batteries, do non-Sony batteries work on a7r2? Wondering if there is a electronic handshake between the camera and battery that prevents 3rd party batteries. Thanks in advance.
bdp
I have two Watson batteries that worked for a while but have stopped being recognised by the camera and now cannot be charged either. So I would ONLY stick with genuine batteries. I've always had problems with third party batteries, even for my Canons - it's just not worth trying to save money in this area in my opinion. weinhous
Golem
Hope there is a dislike button here I looked up all his posts. His expertise is apparently limited to what he reads, and as someone mentioned above, he seems to post almost verbatim from what he's been reading. `
sstevenson
I saw a drastic battery life increase on my a7 models after turning on airplane mode. If you're not using wifi, no reason to have it active all the time.
