The latest version of the firmware for A6400 is version 2.00 (Windows) and that was released on 06/13/2019 or almost five years ago. My guess is that version 2.00 is the default firmware for A6400 now (and should have been for quite a while). -
I've never heard/read that updating the firmware changes to shutter count -- but I've never checked into that. That would seem an odd thing to do. I also can't image a new camera having manually updated firmware. -
There are a lot of adapters to choose from with different features and prices. Part depends on what lenses you have. Just do a WEB search for "Sony e-mount adapters" and you'll see all your options.
