Problem with a7 mII monitor

My Sony a7 Mark II monitor quit working.  When I turn on the camera the screen flashes but stays black.  The finder works fine.  I have searched the entire menu several times, checked the book but can find no answer.  Anyone have an idea?

Above the viewfinder window is a small rectangular sensor.  Dirt there makes the camera think your eye is close and shut the screen.  

 

Try setting the screen on by default, to test this, clean the sensor if so.

Thank you, thank you - I blew out the area with a can of air and the problem was gone.  Everything works fine now.
