Question on intervalometer for a7r2/a6300

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I intend to buy an intervalometer instead of using the timelapse app as the app does not allow usage of Silent shutter. Have the following questions:

1. Is there a 3rd party intervalometer that is universal and can work across brands + models?

2. Do they allow the screen off while working through the shots?

3. Are there any that don't use the USB as a connection? Reason being that I need to use the Power bank as an external power source.

4. Separately, I typically shoot in M mode to maintain shot-to-shot consistency. For sunset/sunrise transitions, the lux levels change pretty drastically. In such instances, what is the best practice? Do you guys just leave it in A/S mode and adjust in post thereafter? Is there any easier way to shoot sunset timelapses, or any scene with changing lux levels?

Thanks!

Silent Shutter mode is going to drop the quality to 12 Bit.

Are you sure you want this?

I  use TrggerTrap and an external USB power brick that can power both your phone and the camera.

My power brick of choice is the RavPower RP-PB41, which is rated at 26800 mAh.

You could try the Gentled which works with the infrared sensor, a bit fiddly but will work for ever.  http://www.gentles.ltd.uk/gentled/  Works fine with my NEX 7.  If you don't mind using the usb port then the Hahnel Captur Pro works fine once you work out how it works.  http://www.hahnel.ie/index.cfm?page=dslrremotecontrols&id=179&pId=179.  For a remote battery I use a cheap adapter and a lion battery from my model car collection, works fine.  http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ex-Pro%C2%AE-Replacement-AC-PW20-Adapter-Description/dp/B0081SGK3Y?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry, wanted to reply earlier but it took a week+ to get my forum account active.  Please look at this kickstarter.

VIEW Intervalometer: Auto Ramp, Instant Preview, WiFi Remote by Elijah Parker — Kickstarter

He is working on a wifi control system for Sony to bypass the usb entirely, no there yet but he said he is wanting to do it if possible.  He is also going to try to get focus ramping for Sony included.

I'm just a backer of the project, not affiliated otherwise.  However there are few good option out there for Sony so I am all in trying to support this one.
