Loxia 21mm won't disappoint you and as I see the 18mm seems as good or vine better....

Have the first one and very nice size/IQ.

But with my A7r2 mostly running around with my Sony 16-35mm because for my kind of photography like to go wider....and sunsets and sunrises are going always to fast.

The Voigts seem nice as well but no possibility to put a filter, and work a lot with 10stops + gradient ND.

Hello all,

I've found a good compromise for my A7II  with the Samyang NC 12mm f2, it's an APSC lens but offers you an F2 18mm equivalent in 16 MP for 1/5 of the price of a Loxia. If you're tight on budget that could be very coherent.

Lurk on the web and you'll find very good reviews.

Cost/performance it's unbeatable.

The non AF is not an issue with such wide angle.

Best regards,

Thomlas

A quite reasonable solution if you don't care too much about megapixels as that's an excellent lens, especially for the money.  I don't think you'll get 16mp though, an APS-C crop of full frame is bit less than half the resolution, so maybe 10-11mp.  Though if you like shooting square crop, you lose nothing, getting a great 4000x4000 image at 12mm f2.

Don't use APSC crop. Use Sony's Clear Image Zoom at 1.5X.

You will still have the full MP count. You will have only 12MP of

resolution cuz the rest of the pixels are interpolated, but you do

get the smoother tones and reduced aliasing of maximum MP.

I tend to believe that APSC crop is intended for videos where

12 MP is more than plenty enuf.
