A7RII dark viewfinder in movie mode

I have had an A7RII since they first started shipping.  I have used it extensively on a 2 month trip to New Zealand.  I shoot both video and stills.  Frequently, I shoot both video and stills of the same scene.  I love the camera, but it does one thing that I find really annoying.  When I switch from the still mode to the video mode, the viewfinder gets significantly darker.  It also happens if I'm using the LCD monitor instead of the viewfinder.  The brightness drops by about 50% when in the movie mode.  I know that there are viewfinder and monitor brightness modes in the menu, but they are disabled when in the video mode.  Does anyone else have this issue or is it a problem in my camera?
