Hi folks.

Using the interval shooting option on a74...at night I just wanted to shoot some foreground exposures. and I thought I would just use the interval option as I had been using it to shoot star trails.

Well the set it to 60 seconds BUT it would only shoot to 30 seconds.. Tried changing a few settings but made no difference. I cannot find any info....

it clearly shows I can shoot any interval between 30 secs and 60 secs so why will it not work.

I don't know if the settings you have used are for a single shot or time lapse (many shots, separated by an interval - like 30 shots spaced 90 seconds apart, for example) - interval shooting can do both, I believe. But the key is that  it uses the exposure settings (including shutter speed, but also ISO and aperture) to take the photo. The interval settings do not control the exposure (except in controlling WHEN the exposure happens).

If you set your shutter speed for 1 second, and the interval to 60 seconds, then you'll get an image exposed for 1 second, one minute later. You have two controls for amount of time, and they do different things - one controls how long the shutter is open, the other controls how long before the shutter is triggered. You cannot get those two controls to switch functions, even if you swear at them 😃
