A6000 wifi hookup

So tried everything under the sun ... android ... ios ... firmware ... resets ...
Just cant seem to get IEMobile to connect to the A6000 ??

Anyone have some hints?   This should not be so involved.  Hmmm.

Did you start the Wifi in your camera?

I played around some more ... different phones ... different os etc
finally got an older iphone6s under ios13.6 to connect using imagingedge 7.4

android no way for imagingedge but the older playmemories 6.3 works on an older tablet even

I have imagingedge 7.2.1. on Android 8.1 (mi a1 phone). It was working last time I looked, which was when Coronavirus was still the other side of the horizon. Was using it with my a6500. I think it still worked with my a6000.

Ahhh you're a lucky one!  ?
A couple of the phones I tried was a Nokia6.1 Android 8 and a LGG4 Android 6 - both said nope

Maybe it's v7.4?  When I get some time I will back the version down towards 7.2.1 ...
It's just funny the old PlayMemories v6.3 on an even older SonyTabZ with Android 4.4 works ?!?!

Time for the two Campbell soup cans and a string ... good grief ?

I vaguely remember there being some reason why I didn't upgrade to the latest.

I also vaguely remember having a hard time getting the connection going first time, and being raltively easy after that.

There are third-party remote apps, but I suspect that if you want stuff like the GPS co-ordinates transmitted to the camera, you need the Sony app up and running reliably.

oh no nothing so fancy for me ... just want to make sure i am getting what i paid for

so testing out all the functions that someday might come in handy  ?

have come a long way since that "remote" (cable) shutter release ay?

Or like the time I had connected two computers, but the connection absolutely would not work. Eventually, I pulled the wire, and it came until I had the plug in my hand. Both computers had a wire connected: just.... it wasn't the same wire.

So ... back to the WiFi thing ... now i noticed the NFC doesn't work with neither ios nor android  ?

My current phone doesn't have NFC... but no, I never managed to get even a glimmer out of NFC with the a6000 and my previous phone. Nothing.

hmmm... that's not good ... was kinda wondering if i had a bum unit

but then here in the states none of the retail boxes are sealed so who knows what is really in the box

It's the only thing I ever tried to use NFC for... could have been the phone.
