  1. Anyone come across a document or link that reviews the deeper tech details of the APS-C sensors in the A6X00 series? I am trying to hunt down the absolute read noise and the various dependencies I will buzz off this thread if this is too geeky ๐Ÿ˜›
  2. Ah hah! A realist! ๐Ÿ˜€ Well I can't tote around a few hundred pounds of paper anymore ... so the next best thing is a large 12"~13" tablet in dark mode so I don't kill me eyes too early I do like the search and find feature though sure saves a lot of page flipping!
  3. Yup! Couldn't agree more. In my line of work we go by measure twice cut once ... just repeat that mentally 5 times before actual execution, heh Though all that eye exercise didn't help with the NFC issue -> still somewhat flaky Gonna keep trying with the 6300 and 100 to see what trick gets that to actually work?
  4. Actually I am quite surprised already ... so much in these little packages these days I grew up with Sony docs literally since I was a kid cuz Mom did business with Sony and the engineers and techs in Japan were quite the group back then ... so I enjoy reading them ๐Ÿ™‚ The professionally done tube shows are good no argument there, but have to pick and choose to not waste time And hey at least I enjoy reading user manuals ... my girlfriend in college enjoyed reading her absolutelyhugeonitsownstand dictionary every day, good grief. Anyway, hopefully little gems will surface afte
  5. Well on the other end of the spectrum friends and family note "what the heck is that?" for the A (probably cuz its missing the SLR tent) and "awww it's so cute" for the RX (cuz well it kinda is). One buddy hid the RX in his hand and attempted to walk out with it ๐Ÿ™‚ He has huge basketball hands, too funny. But you're right ... one gets stuck on a scope at night in the dark, one gets to go everywhere and gets all the attention. Sounds just like relatives in real life.
  6. Wonder if the A and RX are siblings or cousins? So I guess I should read about them more, huh? The guide for the A6300 is 321 big font pages The guide the RX100M6 is 584 small font pages Good grief it's gonna be next summer before I get to pit these two against each other for some friendly rivalry!! ๐Ÿ™‚ (got any Cliff notes anyone?)
  7. Guess we will need a section title for this new sibling, huh? ๐Ÿ™‚
  8. Was testing out a few batteries the other day ... the Sony 1020mAh, and a couple aftermarket 1300mAh units. About a couple hours of continuous ON is about the limit ... in my case it's the A6300 with a nonP lens. So with the USB power, the little "charge" icon shows up ... wonder how long it will hold in BULB mode? There was this article in my reading cycle and some gent did overnight time lapse tests ... something about using an 8Ah USB battery pack did like 900 shots at 30sec/30sec splits and supposedly everything survived including the internal battery. So I was thinking if I
  9. Forgive me for not recalling exact details ... though is this resolved with that trick of setting the clock ahead a couple months turning off the camera and hoping it will do an autoshutter for a remap? Or something like that? I'm from the dino days of using erasers on sensors ... ๐Ÿคจ edit: was thinking about the clock trick for a short term fix on the spot
  10. Yeah the count increments differently with front curtain on/off ... it seems to double with the setting off (makes sense I guess) There is "shutter count" and "shutter count 3" noted under ExifTool (12.06) ... wonder if those cater to the front/back curtains? Or the 3 numbers in the "Shutter: Mechanical" tag maybe? Accounting for front curtain on/off and silent modes ... geee wish a Sony informant would show up here. ๐Ÿ™‚
  11. Hope you folks don't mind my reviving this thread ... The video posted by DD noted above also mentions "image count" though no matter what site I use (and there's quite a few!) or what software I try (exiftool, pie, etc etc etc) that tag does not appear, in particular he was pulling data from RAW files in an A6300 which is what I am doing. Any ideas? Also wonder what that "Shutter: Mechanical (#### #### ####") actually refers to? And yup I am so new this I kept reading it as "exit" files ... ๐Ÿคช edit: the video comments list has someone mentioning the "image count" was renam
  12. OK ok ok ... took me a couple weeks but I got my 6000 to grow up into a 6300 ๐Ÿ˜› That 6k just had too many new camera lemons in it so gave it back and managed to get a smokin deal on a 6.3k and now I have to go through that 321 page (!!!) user guide. My goodness ... I could just see all those engineers sitting around the tech able and like "let's see how many more features we can make those yanks read about and never use!!" I may report back if my eyes are still intact afterwards ...
  13. hmmm... that's not good ... was kinda wondering if i had a bum unit but then here in the states none of the retail boxes are sealed so who knows what is really in the box
  14. That's it you win ... lest we end up with 10,000 posts of this ... and everyone is like WTH? ๐Ÿคช So ... back to the WiFi thing ... now i noticed the NFC doesn't work with neither ios nor android ๐Ÿคจ
  15. so finally got imagingedge mobile to work on an iphone and playmemories to work on android tablet but still cant get imagingedge desktop to work properly then of course reading the fine print the desktop program does not allow live view from the a6000 via usb (no matter which setting) yet via wifi the mobile apps allows live view -> so no hacks for the usb link??
