  1. A dog's life is not so bad. A7ii body with Batis 85mm lens. 1/5 second, f2.5, ISO 100. Developed in Lightroom and finished in Topaz Impressions.
  2. Hi All. I'm writing to introduce myself. I'm Mike of Bonsall in southern California. I just purchased the A7ii. I am a videographer and used to Sony video cameras and their profiles and gamma as I have had EX1 since it came out. In fact I bought the A7ii to replace the EX1 as I do a lot of desert hiking locations and the EX1 kit is just getting too heavy for an ageing me. I ought to explain why I did not get the A7S (someone would ask). I am considering a Panny GH5 that will be released the end of March and I got my A7ii discounted as an open box item. I will upgrade to the S later in the year if I am impressed with the A7 and decide against the GH5. Cheers, Mike
  3. I'm seriously resisting purchasing the FE 70300 G due to budget constraints. One alternative is to try the SAL70300G for the time being. If anyone has experience using this lens via LA-EA3 on an A7mk2 or A6300 please share your experience and a few sample shots. Thanks in advance.
  4. Greetings, I have a question about my A7ii. (or a6300) Is it possible to shoot tethered from my Sony directly to my Sony z4 Tablet. I have allready tried Play memories, but the picture transfer is realy slow and the liveview is also not the fastest I want a quick way to Check my Photos on location without carrying my Laptop. I would like to have a wired solution for this problem. Also is there a good way to use the z4 as Video Monitor? So i don't have to buy a Atomos or the CLM-FHD5. Thanks in advance. Lukas
  5. Hallo everybody! I have strange problems with my A7ii. First, the C3 button is activating itself at random. Second, the camera is not shutting down itself automatically - it's like something is going on in the background that makes it not go to sleep. Then it seems like (not sure yet) that the AEL button doesn't work all the time (but it can be that the C3 activates itself and thus interferes). Anyone that has experienced something similar? Suggestions? Best regards, Stefan
  6. I am a newbie to this site. I used to be a Canon user since back in the film days, but just over a year ago I switched to the Sony A7ii. It was a big switch for me to ditch was I was used to. I sold some gear on ebay but still had a lot of old stuff that I turned into a display. What else was I going to do with the old film cameras etc... Hoping to gain insight to my camera/lenses and solve any problems that I run into, especially since I recently had a lens connection issue. Happy Shooting!
  7. Here is my Hands on with the Canon 85mm 1.8, i have tested it with 3 affordable adapters. Have a look why this is a great affordable lens but has its problems with autofocus on my adapters http://www.dsphotoblog.com/?p=957
  8. Hello, this is my first post on this forum. My name is Elliot, I would like to share a pic I took a few weeks ago here is Sierra Leone. Please feel free to critique it, I am always ready to learn.
  9. Hej hej! I have an A7II with firmware 2.0 and I'm having the following issue: In a studio setup I want to set a custom white balance. I use a grey card from xrite. - When I set/measure the WB using the card, it is off the actual WB measured via Lightroom/CaptureOne/Photoshop (5800K G2 in cam vs 6250K M1 in software) - When I set the WB manually to 6200K, the raw files I shoot have a WB of 5700K set, when I open them in Lightroom) This is annoying - has somebody else seen this behavior? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your help! Sebastian
  10. Hi, as a Sony newbie I have a couple of questions. I am a fashion photographer who also enjoys shooting sport events of my running crew. So I'm looking for the model that suits the needs of a photographer shooting moving models (not static) and even faster moving runners. After a lot of research I came to the conclusion that only the A7ii would fit my needs. I need the pixels, so no S, I need the quickness so no R(ii, besides the fact that the Rii is too expensive for me right now). But I do have some questions regarding the A7ii to which I hope to find some answers here. 1. I use Capture One Pro for my Canon 5D mark iii. Do I need to switch to the Sony version for my A6000 and A7ii ? 2. Can anybody tell me about their experience using the A7ii in the studio shooting models with flash (Profoto, Broncolor etc) 3. Is anybody using the MC-11 with both Sigma Art and Canon lenses shooting moving models and sports? Please tell me your experience. 4. Is it possible to imitate the DSLR review method: screen is off but when pressed 'play' the screen turns on to show preview. In oppose to either always have screen on or always have screen off?
  11. I am going to sell some Nikon gear, D800 and v3. I am going to keep my D7200, 300 f2.8 Sigma and Nikon 70-200 f2.8 for birding, nature and sports. I am looking to purchase either a Fuji X-T1, Olympus E-M1 or Sony a7ii. Looking to HDR, photograph, landscape, panorama, casual, night and travel. I am really struggling at which system to purchase.. Any thoughts? Brad
  12. I'm considering the Lensbaby 56mm f1.6 Velvet for some "creative juice" with my A7ii. They recently introduced an E mount version: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1152532-REG/lensbaby_lbv56bx_velvet_56mm_f_1_6_lens.html Does anyone have experience with this lens on a Sony mirrorless or other cameras for that matter? Your thoughts?
  13. Sony and Profoto are two companies operating at the top of their game right now. Beautiful designs, top-of-the-line technology, and products that are changing the industry. Unfortunately, because the two products aren't yet designed to be natively compatible with each other, there are very few resources that discuss using these products together. For that reason, I wanted to write a quick post on how I use my new Profoto B1 with my Sony A7ii. Before I did that though, I wanted to preface with a quick post on why I chose the Profoto B1 over the B2 Kit. A lot of people have raised concerns about the B2, but in the end none of those concerns were what I considered a dealbeaker for the B2 Kit. You can read more about the Sony A7ii, the Profoto B1, the Profoto B2 and compatibility on my blog! http://bit.ly/1TjqPL6
