'Silver and Blue' from a recent Winter Series with Olga L., and assisted by Dalton Patton and Ron Cianciuli. Taken with the Sony A7riii mounted with an 85mm 1.4 G Master during my first session with the camera. Lighting was with 4 Profoto monolights (one B1X, one D2 and two separate B2’s) mounted with a beauty dish overhead, two OCF 1x3 with grids camera left and right, and a gelled grid (blue) on the background. The session was assisted by Dalton Patton and Ron Ciancuili and once again, Sony did not disappoint. Eye focus was much more reliable and accurate over the 7rii and it seems like the colors were more pleasing as well. Higher res versions can be seen at http://www.stillsandvideo.com

I recently completed a studio session for Erin Brady (2013's Miss USA) and her husband Tony Capasso who are both starring in the ABC reality show "Startup U". During the session, I switched over from a medium format camera to a Sony a7rii mounted with a 135mm f/1.8 Carl Zeiss T* and a Sony 55mm 1.8 lens. Lighting for the studio session was with Broncolor and Profoto gear plus quite a few modifiers. How did the Sony hold up for a commercial studio shoot? You be the judge. http://stillsandvideo.squarespace.com/blog/a7rii

Sony and Profoto are two companies operating at the top of their game right now. Beautiful designs, top-of-the-line technology, and products that are changing the industry. Unfortunately, because the two products aren't yet designed to be natively compatible with each other, there are very few resources that discuss using these products together. For that reason, I wanted to write a quick post on how I use my new Profoto B1 with my Sony A7ii. Before I did that though, I wanted to preface with a quick post on why I chose the Profoto B1 over the B2 Kit. A lot of people have raised concerns about the B2, but in the end none of those concerns were what I considered a dealbeaker for the B2 Kit. You can read more about the Sony A7ii, the Profoto B1, the Profoto B2 and compatibility on my blog! http://bit.ly/1TjqPL6
