13 FE Lenses Available today?

Recommended Posts

So I am confused on Sony FE lenses as I keep reading that there are 13 FE lenses available “today” however when I look at B&H and look at Sony branded lenses that I can buy today I count 8. Now if I add the two converters for the 28mm that takes me to 10 and even if I am generous and say that the 90mm Macro is in that count I still have only 11. When I add in the Zeiss lenses I still have 10 as they are all “pre-order” like the 90mm so what is this 13 they keep talking about as “available today”??

Now taking that you guys can tell me what I missed here and I am sure it will be something simple they are saying 20 lenses by 2016 and assuming they are not counting the Zeiss made lenses (Batis family) what do you think the other 7 lenses will be? Long glass would be nice but then I have to save for a long time or mortgage something. They are trying to hit the most popular focal lengths and what pros really want so I am wondering what will be next?

You are right, I did not think to look at that chart and I always forget about that odd 28-135 as it is not listed at B&H at least under the normal FE lens location but neither are the converters. I guess I am still hung up on the "Available Now" as I have the 90mm on pre-order and its not out for sale yet :-)

Wonder when they will release the rest of the roadmap they are referring to? Humm

I am anxiously awaiting the rumors of new lenses. So far the only lens that I am 100% satisfied with the sound of it on paper (in other words, I could order it now with no fear of regrets) is the 28mm f2. Have there been any rumors regarding the next batch of lenses to be released? I am especially interested in a long, fast prime to replace my 300mm f2.8 Tokina that I love so much.

    • I just found your post as I was searching for an answer to the same question.  I realized that I can not set the external flash setup in my Sony A7CII when I attach any of my Godox and Insignia flashes.  They seem to work fine, other than the auto zoom being stuck at the widest focal length, but flash settings are greyed out in the menu. Did you ever figure out an answer for this?
    • So long story short, I'm at a crossroads and need to unload some gear. My main cam is a A7R3. I also lucked into a Fuji GFX100s a few years ago. Because of some upcoming things, I really need to sell some stuff. I could sell the old Pentax kit, but can't bring myself to. On the other end, I don't want to get rid of the Fuji either. What I'm thinking is sell both the Fuji kit and my A7R3, get an A7R5 and call it a day. I get a camera that really bridges most of the gaps between my current Sony & the Fuji's capabilities. Yeah I loose some stuff from the Fuji, but I'd also be slimming down to one lens ecosystem.  I'd keep the Pentax as there are things I specifically use it for. I can't bring myself to pull the trigger and go the R5 route & life with out the 102mp medium format. Thoughts or other options? My photography: mostly night photography, b&w and minitatures (yeah, Star Wars type stuff.) And landscapes, something bothe the Pentax & Fuji do really well with. If I got rid of the Fuji and upgrade fropm the R3, I pocket lots of needed cash and still have something that checks alot  of the boxes the Fuji does.
    • Are you using a genuine Sony, fully charged battery?  Do you have an A/C adapter?  Do you have a user manual -- these tell you have to deal with these types of problem -- like a complete reset.
