A7ii Can't ever focus

Hi, I bought an A7ii for my trip of a lifetime travelling around Asia for a year. My wife bought a Sony rx100mk1 which was ten times better (although it didn't last a year and I couldn't get support when travelling so broke it trying to fix it myself as a last ditch effort).

Now we just have the A7 and she is furious with me for spending so much money on an apparently useless camera.

I bought a carl Zeis Planar lenses first with converter and another legacy lens and neither were any good, I bought the Sony SEL2870 recently, convinced that it was my lack of skill as a photographer causing he problem and that an auto lease would sort it out.

 

Still can't focus this piece of s@*%. I tried manual focus too, and the preview where it zooms in automatically looks sharp, then the actual photo is taken and it's out of focus. Please help me as I want to smash this thing! I'll upload some pictures soon.
