ISO 50 and silent mode for A7S

Silent shutter also reduces IQ and can cause banding under different artificial lights.

Strangely, my A7s never suffered from the distortion problems using silent shutter, but my A7r II and A6300 do, the A7r II being the worst.

I think it's due to sensor size (pixel density).

Yes, both ISO 50 and Silent Mode can negatively affect image quality.

 

Jim Kasson has done some really technical research on what makes the Sony A7x cameras tick.

Somewhere (DPReview?) I vaguely remember reading about bit depth dropping when in Silent Mode as well.
