Advertisement Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Hi detlef, Take a look here ISO 50 and silent mode for A7S. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
JCC
ISO 50 can cause blur if the subject is moving. This can be used as an effect. Silent shutter can cause a curved distortion on moving things, never in a good way. JCC

EvilTed
Silent shutter also reduces IQ and can cause banding under different artificial lights. Strangely, my A7s never suffered from the distortion problems using silent shutter, but my A7r II and A6300 do, the A7r II being the worst. I think it's due to sensor size (pixel density). SpaceManSpiff
Yes, both ISO 50 and Silent Mode can negatively affect image quality. Jim Kasson has done some really technical research on what makes the Sony A7x cameras tick. Here is a post on the extended ISO. http://blog.kasson.com/?p=11622 And regarding increased read noise in Silent Mode http://blog.kasson.com/?p=6491 Somewhere (DPReview?) I vaguely remember reading about bit depth dropping when in Silent Mode as well. HTH

LCT
Silent mode works nicely on my A7s mod. So much so that i don't use the noisy mode anymore i must say.
