E-mount fast zoom prices,

I was hoping to go from A-mount APS-C to E-mount FF, however E-mount is too expensive as far as 2.8 zoom's lenses goes, over $3000 for the 70-200mm F/2.8 have Sony lost their minds...

Buying native E-mount lenses and supplement with adapters and lenses from my A-mount, is far more expensive than starting all over on let's say Nikon with a D810 and buy all lenses I need from Sigma or Tamron.

So, I do not see myself going for E-mount after seeing the prices from Sony's new 2.8 line up. IBIS is nice, but Nikon have all the lenses I need with VR.

D810 + tamron 24-70 F/2.8 VC + 70-200 F/2.8 VC cost about $5790 in my country.

A7R II + Sony 24-70 F/2.8 + Sony 70-200mm F/2.8 cost about $10430.

I save about $4640 by starting over with Nikon, meaning I can rebuy all my A-mount FF lenses on Nikon and still save money by not going for Sony to supplement with my existing A-mount's FF lenses.

I am sad I'll have to leave Sony when upgrading to FF, but Sony is too rich for my blood.

You are comparing brand + 3rd party lens manufacturers (Nikon + Tamron) instead of brand + same brand lens manufacturers ( Sony + Sony lenses or Nikon + Nikon lenses) which is unfair. Did you calculate how much it may cost to have Nikon + Nikon lenses ?

Nikon D810 body = $2,796.95 (Original price is $3,296.95) (Released in 2014 - Almost 2 years old!)

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR Lens = $2,296.95 (Original price is $2,396.95) (Released in 2015 - Almost a year old!)

Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II Lens = $1,896.95 (Original price is $2,096.95) ( Released in 2009 - 7 years old!!)

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/644741-USA/Nikon_2185_AF_S_Nikkor_70_200mm_f_2_8G.html/prm/alsVwDtl

Total = $2,796.95 + $2,296.95 + $1,896.95 = $6,990.85

I don't know how you did get the information that Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 will cost over $3,000. Since, Sony didn't reveal any pricing for that particular lens.

Anyways, let's do the same math for Sony + Sony lenses as well :

Sony Alpha a7R II = $3,198.00 (Released in 2015 - Less than a year old!)

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1159878-REG/sony_a7r_mark_ii_digital.html

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM = $2,198.00 (Pre-order price. Thus, not Released yet!)

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1222774-REG/sony_sel2470gm_fe_24_70mm_f_2_8_gm.html

Sony FE 70-200mm f/2.8 GM = Pricing is not revealed yet. But let's take your assumption = $3,000 (Not Released yet!)

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1222776-REG/sony_sel70200gm_fe_70_200mm_f_2_8_gm.html

Total = $3,198.00 + $2,198.00 + $3,000 = $8,396

Difference = $8,396 - $6,990.85 = $1,405.15

For that difference you'll get less than a year old body and not yet released lenses! Meaning you will have much more recent generation lenses and more recent body. Another thing is that whenever new lenses/bodies came out of the oven freshly, they'll always be hot - Most expensive. But, of course, prices will go down in time.

The fact is Sony's combo is expensive or lack full AF support, since there is no 3th part native lenses available - Sony ecosystem is fine if you have the money, I just can't justify buying Sony or Nikon lenses - hence the calculation.

The prices is 10-20% higher here in the EU (but for both, so the comparison stands), and the price of the 70-20 F/2.8 was the price Tony Northrup reported and was about 3300 US dollars I think.

Yes I am comparing brand + 3rd party lens, because it's possible with Nikon's ecosystem but not with Sony's unless using adapters but then you loose AF speed and functionality.

Since I can't afford a $9000+ system them my choices are limited, I have decided to get another A-mount camera (A77 II instead) - needed a secound body for a weeding, but would have preferred a FF. A99 is too outdated to consider and the ISO gain over A77 II is to small to give up on a better AF system - A77 II cost about $940 here far cheaper than going FF and dual system right now.

Maybe in two years the Sony E-mount options is doable, for now the bulk of non professionals will skip Sony's native lenses based on price - Sony is clearly going for top quality here, but enthusiasts have to earn a pretty penny to afford those asking prices.

$5790 is a lot but it's doable over time, I'll skip the $10000+ options.
