I wish I can set a bottom to switch to APS-C crop in a second and I higly desire a "star" menu like Canon cameras where to save the most used menu settings, SONY menu is really crowded!

Anyone have other nice wishes tha SONY can easy do with a firmware upgrade? :D

yes, but the FN menu is customizable only with some settings, not the ones I would like to.

I'm just curious, what setting can't you add to the Function menu ? On the A6000 it looks as if all the options could be added if required:

Here's mine:

As the OP said, you can't have the option for switching between FF and APS-C modes, although I wouldn't find it particularly useful.

After all, you can always crop to APS-C afterwards to exactly the same effect, but it does save processing and file sizes. That said, does anyone know if it affects metering and AF in any respect (just curious)?

However, what each person finds important goes to the heart of this. Because you, I, and the OP, all have different needs and preferences, the menu should be completely customisable (horrible word).

Personally, I think it should allow every option in the Fn grid boxes and, in the main menu, there should be a custom menu where you can store your most used items or, at the very least, have a hide/show option to get rid of those never touched. All that would take is having a 'long press' on Menu, for example, to toggle the visibility on or off.

If Sony did that, ALL the criticism of their menu would be answered in one fell swoop!

I only have one prime 28mm lens, so switching fast to APS-C il like to have two lenses

As I mentioned, it does make life slightly easier in terms of immediate framing and will give you smaller file sizes to process, but the result is exactly the same as taking the shot using FF and then cropping in post-processing to APS-C size.

With that in mind, it can be far more flexible to always use the maximum, because then you have a choice when you crop. If you don't get the framing right using APS-C you can't go back and change it.

To be honest, that is why I keep the Phase detect lines on in my display, as they cover most of the APS-C area, so as well as helping with AF they give a decent idea of cropping (although you can obviously go much further!)

Nice wishes ? OK. Clean up the menus by eliminating useless

features, such as APSC crop mode. Why worry about the ease

of access to the enabler for useless features. Just delete them.

...............

I put the digital zoom on the C1 right next to the shutter button.

It's not fixed at 1.5X like the APSC mode is, it retains the full

file size/pixel count, and the metering is unaffected.

I use an old LAE2 A-mount converter. Altho it shaves off the

corners, it doesn't require the 1.5X zoom you get using APSC

mode. 1.1X or 1.2X is enuf. It varies a bit for various lenses.

Seems to have no effect on the AF. But with an LAE2 the whole

AF system operates independently of the imaging system in the

camera. I don't have any FE lenses.
