It's worth noting that at least with this camera, during a nighttime timelapse the screen is grey all of the time. As the camera seems to lock up while capturing a frame and turn grey, I cannot review the last image or offload the image to an app. It's not uncommon to capture back to back images all night long, so the screen is forced to be on and grey all night with no option to review remotely. I have tried a series of apps that all appear to be Locked out of offloading images for review. Ideally I would have the option to review and tweak settings... but at the moment I cannot even review to identify if there is an issue. Physically touching/pausing the sequence would destroy it.
"A little rain over the gear" is pretty subjective.
Sony has never been known for exemplary weather sealing. Their older cameras were awful, but the newer cameras, like yours, are fairly decent. As to the lenses, some are weather sealed and some aren't, you'll need to look those up to determine which are. And bear in mind, again, older lenses won't be a good as the newer designs.
I shoot an A7 IV and an A1. I don't worry about being out in a little rain with either, lens dependent. I used to shoot an A7 RIII, and as much as I love that sensor, I would run like the Wicked Witch of the West when water was in the air.
