GianniC.
Hi everyone. I'm seeking for help for an issue with my a65 camera. I bought it second hand,it has always worked fine for over 3 years, then yesterday I came back from a few days of holiday and upon trying the camera again I noticed that when switching it on, the frame menu on the screen only appears for a fraction of a second, then it disappears and the camera is left with very little functions. I can only shoot with manual focus and can't change settings, can't access the system menu, can't access the dial menu, all the buttons seem to be frozen. A further detail is that I seemed to have some issue with my holiday based camera, an a390 that didn't seem to read 3 out of 4 sd cards I tried to use,it only worked with a 32 extreme pro. Can this be a virus that can be transferred through SD cards? Or any other ideas? I can share a video of the screen if necessary. Thanks.

And keep in mind that your camera is quite old so cards with bigger capacities might not work. Concerning the a69 - did the camera possiböy get wet? GianniC.
The sd cards that didn't work this time were always working before. No,my camera didn't get wet,I regularly last used it less than a month ago in perfect weather conditions. It worked fine. Any other ideas?
Olaf W.
If the SD cards were heavily uses the might be worn out. Did you try to factory reset the a69?
GianniC.
Yes, there was no "reset" option though,in the system it's called "initialize" I tried several times,in order to do that I had to repeatedly press the menu button right after turning in the camera so I could get that fraction of a second in which the menu appears on the screen,if I miss it I'm not able to access it. Olaf W.
Unfortunately, it sounds like the mainboard of the camera is defective.
GianniC.
After having been digging in the web I found the solution. I leave it here in case someone will have the same problem with this brand in the future Remove the battery Leave the machine without battery with the switch on Press every button twice (including the dial, shutter button etc) Turn the switch off Reinsert the battery Switch on It worked for me.
