Sony R1XrII

Was in a camera store & they just received 10 new R1xRII bodies. All 10 would not turn on. Many different batteries were tried. Has anybody heard of this problem?

As mentioned, 10 in one brick-and-mortar store ? Unlikely. 

  

R1xRII Bodies ? Unlikely. You try separating body from lens. Try it. Unlikely. 

  

Many different batteries were unpackaged and tried. Unlikely.

Was back in the store & all 10 R1XR MKII  bodies  are going back to Sony. Also was told by the rep that this whole batch are defective. This applies to cameras received this week.

The ones I saw at a Yodobashi a few weeks ago worked fine.  I think we've got a Leica Q fanboy spreading false rumors ;-)

Maybe he's telling the "facts" as he knows them,

from the "rep". When I worked in that biz, most

reps enjoyed amusing themselves telling weird

stories to pretentious gear-heads, especially if

said gear-head was a loyal phanboi of the rep's

competitor. Reps are not loyal to their brands so

they don't really care. But they are loyal to each  

other, like a professional fraternity.
