Sony A9 Focus Mode dial issue

When I change AF-c or Af-s, the camera sets itself in DMF setting (seen on the display) The camera is simply locked to manual focusing.
The lens is a 24-70 GM, and is set in AF mode.
The camera has also been tested with a 70-200 GM lens, with the same result.
I have two Sony A9 cameras that have identical settings in the menus, and I also change the lens from one camera to the other. I use the cameras professionally on a daily basis and there is nothing special I have done in the settings.
The other day the camera was exposed to some light rain, without this problem occurring.
Could the problem be that some moisture has entered the system afterwards?

You didn't state if both your A9's behave differently in this regard. These cameras should be able to handle light rain just fine. Is it still under warranty?

Assuming this behavior is peculiar to one of your A9s, and assuming that only that one camera was exposed to the light rain, and if this behavior started shortly after it was exposed to the rain, then that is most likely the issue. I would stop using it and try to get it dry. Use the old rice method or just let it set for a long time in conditioned air, it may come back. If you let it set in conditioned air I'd open all the hatches and covers except the lens cap.

I'm having a very similar issue with the Sony A1. 

As I change the focus mode dial (AF-S, AF-C, DMF, MF) the camera displays a different mode. None of them seem to be respected. This is a relatively new problem and I've been trying to get to the bottom of it all day. The camera is almost unusable because it's kinda just choosing whatever focus mode it wants regardless of what I set on the dial. Also disabling AF w/ Shutter to us AF-ON doesn't seem to work anymore. 

It looks like sony wants ~$900 to even look at it.
