The lens correction profile is communicated by the lens to the camera: your camera doesn't need to 'know' the correction profile of the lens used. All lenses I bought that were released after I purchased my A6500 have proper correction profiles applied to them, even 3rd party lenses. Unfortunately this correction profile is not applied to the RAW files, nor is it communicated to your post-processing software. Your post-processing software therefore does need to be updated to have the proper correction profile.

Out of curiosity: why would you buy the 24-70 GM ii for your A6500 rather than e.g. the 16-55 F/2.8 G or Tamron 17-70 F/2.8? Unless of course you also have a fullframe body or plan to upgrade in the near future.

Thanks Pieter. Excellent information and good news. It is great to hear from someone with the actual equipment!

Good advice about the lens choice. 16-55 does not have enough reach for me. I have been considering the Tamron 17-70. Do you have any experience with it? Sharpness? Complaints? Overall satisfaction?
