A6000 video tracking

When using AF-C in video mode, should I be able to lock on to a subject as I would in a shooting mode?  For example, if  set my camera to AF-C and lock-on atuofocus (with shutter), I get a green framing rectangle in the viewfinder on to which I can lock on.  So, if I am shoot in burst mode, it will track the lock onto a moving subject.  But, if I switch to video mode (keeping the rest of the setting the same) I don't get the green framing and there is no way to lock on.  Is this the way it's supposed to be, or is this a problem with my camera?

I would say camera. For example a6600 does continuous eye-af in video mode, no other Sony aps-c does this, but plenty do it in photo mode. So it depends on camera's capabilities & sometimes firmware, A73 for instance got a firmware update with eye-af in photo mode which it couldn't do before that update.
