Where in the world did you find a A1II for sale in May??
Sorry if this has already been suggested but Have you checked your Firmware version?
Also have you tried making sure "eye detect" is OFF and tried single, center spot focus? Try that and see if there is a change in image quality.. You could also try turning off the e-shutter and see if that affects the image.
I have read that eye detect doesn't always play nice with some lenses. ( especially if they are adapted )
After a brief flirtation with the ZV-E10 that came after my a6300 i realized that i am not a videographer and that i absolutely hated having to put the camera at arms length to look at the screen with my readers.. 😣 and that i really missed an EV.. I almost went with a complete system change and the Lumix s5II because the IS is so good with that camera and the pixel shift is amazing.. but for some reason... i liked the viewfinder of the A7III better .. so i found a A7R III with only 7k on the shutter. Needless to say I am VERY Happy ... Maybe some day i will try that new Panasonic S1R II also
But for now i guess in need to save up for a couple good lenses. the old adapted minolta's and A mounts work OK but they are getting a bit dated.
