Remote camera control question

I tried out the Sony remote camera control software recently but couldn't get a camera view on my monitor, is this right? Surely you need to use the monitor as a viewer when your camera is several feet away otherwise it doesn't make sense, for example how do you know what you are focusing on.? The help file didn't shed any light on it.

I didn't even know there was a PC version. On the android app you do get the camera's display on the phone

On my A7II i can connect a HDMI cable and see a live-view right up on a monitor.. You can't control the camera that way, but if you only need to see the camera view on another display, it works much better than the remote app.

@olemartinnorg, did you happen to use hdmi AND usb simultaneously?

It looks like if you are using USB for capture and HDMI for Live Viewing, the hdmi monitor goes blank, you can only see iso/f-stop/speed, but on a black screen (on the pc monitor, not camera's, the camera display goes blank anyway, when you connect the hdmi)

Is this normal? Is there a workaraound?
