  1. Hello, I come to you because I don't know what to do I have a Sony A7 first name. I have waiting an update coming to fix this but it does not come and seen My autofocus 35mm dropped, I start to panic a little with the Sony brand ... so here's my problem ... for practical reasons (life of the battery, and the inability to assign an ON / OFF of the viewfinder), I chose to put on the eve to 10 seconds . so far, no problem except that watching the following video you can see that from sleep does not always happen as it should. (random process) is there a person on the forums that would have the same problem ?(A7 or alpha series?) it's pretty simple to get tested also by adjusting the duréede ensures 10s: Bc thank you for your help the link of the video ...
  2. On my A7s I noticed that when shooting in SLOG2 if I go up to ISO 8000 the image will have a different noise pattern than if I go up to ISO 10,000 and then down to ISO 8000, same ISO but totally different noise I know that people have reported a similar issue with the A7sii with SLOG3 but what I read was it was believed to only be a bug with that picture profile It's this kind of "Trick" ISO that does something weird to the noise Going up give the ISO a kind of "Dirty" grain but going down to the very same ISO will give the ISO a "Clean" grain I compared Native 3200 to this ISO 8000 when it had a "Clean" noise and also the "Dirty" noise http://imgur.com/RzOCZko http://imgur.com/AWU0IED http://imgur.com/G6QoXWl The thing is I see this not just on SLOG2..I see it on all picture profiles..on multiple different camera models... On the A7s this happens on the following Picture Profiles on the following ISOs: http://imgur.com/SLmoyEF Here is a video of me going over the issue and explaining more in-depth:
  3. Hi - I have an intermittent bug in my a7riii. When I try to review an image, the image will only stay on the screen for a moment and then return to the shooting mode. When the fault happens, however, likewise, if I press the menu button the menu will only appear for a moment and then return to shooting mode as well. I have noticed that when the fault is occurring that the image review button seems to be ultra-sensitive. I shoot in manual only. The fault seems to be independent of ambient temperature or duration of use. I've switched out memory cards as well, but the fault still happens from time to time. Also, I've removed the battery, turned the camera power switch off and on, push all of the other buttons a few times, waited a few minutes, reinserted the battery, and sometimes that fixes it, other times it doesn't. Yes, the firmware is upgraded to the latest version. Additionally, I just noticed that on July 4th, when the camera failed me for large part of the day, that a bunch of the image files from that day are labeled with the prefix "BTP" instead of usual "DSC" (see attached sceenshot). The numerical order starts with the the BTP prefix and then changes to the DSC after I had the trouble with the image / menu screens disappearing and the camera resumed operating normally for the rest of the night. I've searched online and in the Sony manual for what BTP might mean to no avail? I've had no problems since, but am anxiously waiting for it to happen again so I can video record the problem before sending it into Sony. In the meantime, anyone have thoughts? Thanks, Bob
  4. I recently switch from Canon to the A7R II and have been really impressed. One thing I immediately noticed was 5 stops showing in the meter on the viewfinder. What a fundamental shift, how Ansel would have love this I thought. By having 5 stops we have use the entire Zone scale, spot metering and compensating wherever we want in the tonal range. I use almost all full manual and I have taught many thousands of photographers exposure classes, including extensive use of zones for digital. Imagine my disappointment when I found out that manual mode was DUMBED DOWN to not allow us to see any metering point under 2 stops and instead only showing an arrow when you go lower that give no indication of how low we are. This forces us to use a separate meter instead of utilizing the clear potential of what's in this camera. This is so frustrating. I thought maybe it was a bug but what I found on various forums was people complaint about this and answers akin to, Exposure below 2 stops would be too dark so it does not allow it. WHAT, this is MANUAL MODE! THERE IS NO “CORRECT” EXPOSURE except the one that’s right for your image. A meter is based on middle grey and the right exposure is whatever you want. I frequently want highlights in a sky at Zone 8 for example (3 stops above 0, or middle grey). Or shadows or Zone 1 (4 stops down). Why on earth would sony include 5 stops of range and then only allow them to be used in Auto modes, leaving us with a measly two stops in Manual. I can find no solution to this and no option in the menu. Am I missing a setting. If so please let me know. PLEASE Sony, this could be an amazing took for letting photographer take exposure further and you have nerfed it for no reason. A smaller spot meter circle would also be nice, but full manual mode but please, give us full manual metering. There is no reason for this! -- Gav
