gorillamotors
I own a Sony a6500 APS-C camera. I know that if you put a full frame lens on it you need to multiply 1.50 crop factor. If you put on a APS-C lens on it do you still need to add the crop factor or not. ie Adding a Sony 24mm 1.8 APS-C lens. Does that make it a 24mm or a 36mm lens? Advertisement Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Hi gorillamotors, Take a look here Sony a6500 and lens crop factors. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Username
The crop factor applies to the real, physical FL of ALL lenses. Most lenses are marked with the real FL, so DO apply the factor when mentally figgering the field-of-view. ---------------------------------------------------------- The most frequent exception to marking lenses with their actual real FL occurs with megazoom bridge cameras, which in its own way makes a lotta sense, given that the built-in lens cannot be interchanged Zoom rings on such cameras may typically be marked "24 ~ 600mm", even tho their real FL range is 4.5 ~ 110m .... cuz a user of such a camera is innerested only in know the field of view, not being free to choose other lenses for it.
